iContact With New Features – My Favorite E-mail Marketing Provider

iContact e-mail marketing logoiContact, my all-time favourite when it comes to e-mail marketing and autoresponders both professionally and personally, just upgraded their application with some new features.

Here’s a quick run-down of the new features just added:

Spell Check

Now the message editor has the ability to recognize misspelled words, highlight them, and provide suggested options for correcting them. A really great new feature for those who does not write their e-mail marketing material in Word or similar.

Selecting Templates

iContact made it even easier to look through their 250+ gallery of e-mail templates. Now, the layout allows you to view larger thumbnails before you make your selection. A great new addition for those e-mail marketeers not savvy enough to make their own template.

Improvement in Image Uploading

Before, you had to “leave” the message editing area to upload new images to the image library. Now, when you click to add an image in the message editor, a pop-up is presented. The pop-up window contains options to upload an image from your computer or from a website – like you know from WordPress and most other popular blogging system.

Image Hosting

Let’s be honest, before you had a crappy storage space for your images, unless of course you decided to host them on your own server. But boy did iContact up their game on this one. Customers who before only had 500KB of online image storage available, will now have 5MB. Customers with 1MB will now have 10MB and customers with 2MB will now be able to upload 25MB worth of images – and when it comes to e-mail newsletters, that’s a lot!

Improved Help System

You don’t need help or ever read the manual, right? Well if a “friend of yours” ever need help with iContact, “they” will now find an enhanced help system with better accuracy and usability within iContact. I don’t want to get too much into details here as you probably won’t need it, right? Oh what the heck, tell your “friend” that the enhanced help system will provide him, or her, with better fine-tuned search when looking for help articles. Automatically suggested help topics based on the current page and the help window stays with him/her as he/she navigates through the iContact site.

Enhancement To Message Sending System

Increased visibility into the status of your message delivery. The pending message tab refreshes automatically every 60 seconds to inform you of your pending message(s).

API version 2.0

iContact also updated their API in case you’re a developer. It includes:

  • Easier authentication – now as easy as providing username, password and application ID.
  • More flexibility – more than 20 API resources available.
  • Developer resources – community, sample code, user groups.

    • Hot, I guess you can say that, hehe. But they have great support too, never had any problems with them – and live support available too.
