February. Such a short month. Only 28 days. Never the less, these past 28 days were very interesting for TechPatio, as the table below will show you. Maybe it’s because of the winter or maybe TechPatio.com is just growing?  Well, have a look at the table and then I’ll discuss a few of the numbers afterwards:

Conclusion: February ’10

NEW (ALMOST) RECORD! Pageviews was slightly better than my September 2009 stats and visits were slightly less than that month too. Thank you, Google Street View. The post I did with funny pictures from the danish Google Street View launch, attracted many new visitors to my blog.

I also need to thank TweetAdder for helping me getting my Twitter follower count up from 500 to over 4,000 in just a few months (see graph to the right). Because of that, Twitter is now the number one site for sending traffic to TechPatio, in the “referring sites”-category. When I tweet a link about a new blog post, it’s not just two or three people clicking on it anymore, like it was in the beginning…

Another bonus with all my Twitter followers is MyLikes, which you can kinda compare to sponsored tweets, I guess. Tweets are clearly marked with the #ad sign, so people know it’s an advertisement. That gave me $3 during the last few days of February, not much, but I still have pending clicks that’s not approved yet and I think MyLikes will bring me around $20 for the month of March. If you’re a Twitter user, go check out MyLikes and see if it’s something for you too. They pay out every Friday as long as you’ve earned more than $2.

February was also the month where I finally got my Amazon income started. I haven’t promoted many products on Amazon at all, but it’s easier to do with my photography-related posts and it seems photographers are interested in buying. Some Lowepro bags etc. has been purchased through my Amazon links. I’m sure the buyer will be very happy with the quality of Lowepro. I know I am!

I’m still struggling with Clickbank, but then again, I’m not really promoting any products there at the moment. Thesis (WordPress SEO optimized theme) is just a random banner every now and then, so not much promoting being done on that part either.

AdSense continues to suck for me, to say the least 🙂 That’s why I’ve decided to do some testing with AdSense in March to figure out what kind of AdSense ads my readers are most inclined to click on, and then focus on that for the future. Up until now, it’s been too unorganized. I hope I can change that.

Other Summary & Income Reports

Usually I include a list of other blogs, right here, with similar income/summary reports like this. I guess I’m out too early with the February stats, as only a few of the ones I usually include, are ready at this time. So I figured, instead of just including a few, you can just leave a comment below and link to your blog/post and share it with the world. You’re of course also very welcome to leave a comment if you just, well, have a comment 🙂

Looks like you are going solid, but what are your plans to kick it up a gear? I’d love to see your alexa ranking cracking into the top 100,000!

Oh I’m just taking it one day at a time 🙂 I don’t depend on the blog in any way, it’s just a (time consuming) hobby plus the extra benefits of networking and “socializing” with bloggers. I’m sure Alexa ranking will get into the top 100k sooner or later.

You got some $ just by dislaying the Thesis banner? Amazing! I should do it too!
I have nothing from Clickbank but getting more and more with Amazon. They are not much (thanks for the low commission rate 4% :()

Nah I think you understood me, Michael 🙂 I didn’t get anything from Thesis since my sale a few months ago. And I explain that with the fact that I don’t currently promote Thesis more than just a banner every now and then, so chances for somebody clicking it – and actually buying – a very slim.

Hey Klaus, I “discovered you” after our conversation about the Linda Christas weird spamming activity. Anyway, I’m surprised that your visitor count is not higher because your Alexa rating is 115,006, which is really good. I would love to get to that level on a site that is not a directory. One of my niche blogs hovers at around 155,000, but it takes a lot of work to get there.

Looks like you’re doing a good job … but it also looks like you put in an awful lot of work for these sales levels. I’m not criticizing … I experience the same thing except for really tight niches.

Anyway, good job and thanks for sharing.

Hi again Deborah.

Regarding Alexa – I never really cared about Alexa. Back in the days, the only way Alexa had to measure a site was through how many users surfed to it, while having installed the Alexa toolbar. Very imprecise, IMHO. Today they claim to have more “advanced methods”, but I don’t know which and they don’t have access to my visitor stats at all (and I’m sure they don’t read these summary reports either…). So maybe they still just use toolbar users but improved their algorithm?

To be honest, I’m not putting THAT much work into the sales. I can see why you might thank that – and yeah, I could make more money per hour, flipping burgers 🙂 But I already have a job, so this is my hobby and I want to see what is possible to do.

I’m surprised that you receive so many spam comments over at GodDiscussion, since the URL’s for commenters are “no follow”, they don’t provide any link juice for the spammers, only real users who would actually click them. It’s likely you’re just another victim, like the rest of us, for automated comment spam that doesn’t care if there’s a spam filter or not, if comments are do follow or no follow. Real human spammers, they usually go for the do follow blogs.

Congrats on the earnings, I have never even tried Tweetadder having that much earned from it isn’t so bad, is that an affiliate sale or does it actually pay you to tweet?

Hi Justin. TweetAdder doesn’t pay you to tweet 🙂 It’s only a (very effective) way of getting followers, as you can see on my twittercounter graph above. The income I have from TweetAdder is affiliate sales for other buying the program for themselves.

Hello Klaus,
I see that your Google adsense revenue is less. Try to play around here and there. I advice you to put Google adsense codes in between the content. In the sidebar banner ad works really well for me. Well this is just my opinion. Do let me know if you need my help with Google adsense ad placement. I’m also not earning much from Google adsense but I have tried different positions to see which one works better.
