How the iPad helped saved a relationship

I recently met up with a friend who told me something that I wanted to share with you iPad lovers and haters out there – how the iPad helped save his relationship with his girlfriend…

First, a quick introduction as to how I came to know about this.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I might be a gear-head…! Quite often people will start talking anything-tech with me, mobiles, computers, cameras etc. And at some point – if his wife/girlfriend is with him, she will make a comment like “are you guys just gonna sit there and talk geek stuff all night?”. This really makes me sound like a geek, right? 🙂  Well, TechPatio.com wasn’t born because I love to cook…

Back to the story.

Our hero in the story has a huge interest in stuff that requires him to use the Internet to either research, read, study, take part in online discussions etc. Basically, his main interests requires him to be social, but not as much physically, just online. That didn’t sit well with his girlfriend all the time, he told me, because every night he would just sit alone in front of the computer – leaving her alone. I’m sure this sounds familiar to some of you out there, right? 🙂

Then what happened? He got an iPad!

The iPad can not replace a computer/laptop, but it’s a damn good media consuming device for text, photo and video. And it’s pretty decent for also using it for writing e-mails and participating in online discussion forums.

Armed with an iPad, our hero was able to be social online and offline at the same time. He got to keep up with his online interests while also being present in the same room as his lady and available for small chats and the occasional peek at the TV.

If this sounds like something you already know about, maybe next time your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband complains about your computer activities, use it as an excuse to get an iPad (or another tablet for that matter) 🙂

  1. I am an Ipad user and it sure has helped in the relationship field.
I no longer have to be home every sunday to watch football (watch on Ipad).

I no longer have to sit at my desk in my home office and leave my wife alone on the couch. My story is similar to the above one. I wouldn’t quite say that the IPAD saved my relationship, but it sure didn’t hurt. Thanks Apple 🙂

  3. I’m writing as a girl and as a kind of a geek about this.

Not only that you’ll be able to carry it around and spend time with her – she will love it for it’s design. Girls like stuff that looks good and iPad is a real looker, you must admit!
