4 good reasons why you should hire a freelancer

in Blogging

I launched this blog, TechPatio.com, back in 2009, all by myself, with the help from nobody else. I did every single thing myself. It didn’t take me long to figure out that I needed somebody to make a logo for me, and graphics, well, is not my strong side. I can do most other things tech/developing related, but graphics is way out of my league. That’s why I decided to outsource it.

Here are 4 good reasons why you should consider outsourcing work to a freelancer:

1) You simply don’t know how to do it. Like in my case above, I have no clue about graphics, I would never have been able to do that task myself.

2) You’re not very good at it. Even if I did know a little bit of graphics, chances are it would be much better “value for money” to hire a freelancer to do the work for me. Sometimes it’s better to pay somebody an hour to do work that you would otherwise have spent 5 hours on yourself.

3) You need it done fast and you’re swamped. Let’s face it, sometimes life can be a struggle and we’re just too busy for our own good. Things keep coming in, even when we have plenty to do – so outsource some of the simpler, time consuming tasks, so you can focus on doing what only you can do – or what you do best.

4) You’re burned out. For example, you need to write an article about something, but alas, you caught the “writers block” bug, and you need the piece done by Friday. Outsource it – you get it done, and you’ll get another perspective. This also applies to many other things of course, such as graphics. Sometimes it’s good to see how somebody else would solve a task.

And finally, a bonus tip, if you can outsource to a freelancer – then you can be a freelancer yourself. If there’s something you’re good at it, you can do [tp lang=”en” only=”y”]work from home freelance[/tp][tp not_in=”en”]work from home freelance[/tp] and let others outsource to you. In this economy, I guess most of us could use an extra dollar here and there.

Hello Klaus,

I completely agree with you that hiring a freelancer is a wise decision. A couple of my acquaintances have hired me as a freelancer for their tasks. One of them is too busy to write content for his sites and the other is not experienced in writing. In the same way, many have their own reasons for taking the help of freelancers. It is undoubtedly a useful association.

Really useful advices, especially for me, because I am a newbie to the blogger scene. I have just started my first blog a couple of days ago, and any helpful information is welcome:)

I’ve already planned out loads of tasks I can outsource once I have the money. My time is better spent on things that take brain power, not necessarily man power!

I do use freelancers sometimes. We just can’t do everything by ourselves. Although some are not cheap, but the time that I saved could be used to do other things that I’m better in worth every penny of it!

In case of being busy as hell you need a freelancer with recommendations. Talking about me, I do not hire freelancers because there hasn’t been any need but I probably hire in a near future but just if I have a grant that the person is worth confidence.

Hello Klaus,

A very apt post. Most of the freelancers are hired by bloggers and site owners, these days. This is a safe bet for them as they do not have to spend their valuable time in trying to generate content which is apt and grammatically correct. They have bigger tasks on their hands than writing content or articles.

I agree with your point but It is not easy to hire a good freelancer. We need to look for someone who is passionate to work. We need to boost them a lot for good quality work.

Can you suggest some communities, when I can get some good quality content writers.
