Three smartphones to look forward to in 2012

Nokia Lumia 900

This might not come as a surprise, but we are probably going to see some interesting phone launches in 2012. Probably not any revolutionary phones, rather evolutionary, but who knows – only time will tell.

My personal favorite of anticipated smart phones in 2012 is of course the next iPhone, probably to be called Apple iPhone 5. Who knows what it will have, the rumor mills are running at full speed as usual, but the only thing I’m pretty sure of (or at least I’m hoping!) is that it will have a bigger screen, it’s been the same size for years now, and a slightly bigger screen would be really nice. Price wise, iPhone 5 is probably not going to be cheap but if you’re into contract phones and your current contract ends sometime around summer of 2012, my  bet is it’s going to align up pretty well with the release of iPhone 5 in some countries.

Another interesting phone scheduled to arrive in 2012, is the Samsung Galaxy S III. Samsung has a pretty nifty phone thing going with their Galaxy S’s, and I expect their version 3 to be another monster from Samsung, boasting some of the newest tech out there and some of the best – if not the best – specifications in a smartphone. Galaxy S III is not expected to launch until Q3 2012 because Galaxy S II still sells well and so does Galaxy Nexus. Besides, I’m guessing Samsung wants to be ready for when iPhone 5 is out – they don’t want Apple to steal all their thunder.

Let’s not forget about Nokia, though they have been “away” from much hype these past few years. Nokia Lumia 900 will be running Windows Phone 8 with a 4.3” AMOLED screen and of course the usual stuff such as 8mp camera, ton of internal memory etc.

  1. I think as you stated the two most talked about phone’s this year will be the iphone 5 vs samsung galaxy s3.I myself may lean towards the galaxy this year as must say really inpressed with the S2 and Apple really annoyed me with the release of the iphone 4S to try and scoop more money out of us.Really not sure about the Nokia it has alot of work to do to compete with those two.

  2. There’s going to be soooo much to chose from that it’ll be really hard. I recently renewed my contract so that I could get the iphone 4s, buuut what shall i do when the iphone 5 comes out? What about Nokia now joining the smart phone race? That’s going to make choosing the right phone x10 harder! Damn you technology! Thanks for the great article.

  4. Nokia Lumia seems to be a strong alternative to the iPhone5, with its new OS it must be really a nice choice. And I love the design so much:)

  5. I currently have the iPhone 4s and have been an iPhone fan for years but the more I read about the upcoming Samsung, I might make the switch. I have been hearing great things about Android phones in general lately.

  8. You should put in the list the HTC One X. It is really stunning with that quad-core 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 4.7 inch display. I don’t know how Galaxy 3 or Iphone 5 will be, but this phone from HTC will come sooner.

  10. I personally do not think that the Nokia Lumia 900 can beat the other smartphones. I think the Galaxy S3 will be the big winner this year.

  13. Why did you miss Sony Ericson? I think that it is one of the best smartphones and can easily compete with three above mentioned.
and as for iPhones, I don’t think that we will meet something really exciting after Job’s death…
