Cinema Mode for your browser

turnoffthelights-atomospherelightingInternet is the most used tool for all computer users, but one of the problems with online videos sites such as YouTube is there is a lot of distraction right and under the video player. And that in addition you want to watch only the video on that page. Turn Off the Lights is a free extension for all browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, IE and Maxthon) that can be used to make it easier to focus on videos and making for a more pleasant viewing experience for the internet users.

The extension work for all most popular web browser, and darken the entire screen around the video and leave your video lit up. With one simple click on the lamp icon in the toolbar. It’s just like in the real theater in the city. They dim also the lights when the movie going to begin.

Of course there is a range of customization options. You can set the YouTube to play direct the 1080p HD version of the video, automatically darken whenever the play button is hit on a video or start the video on the large mode. If you think the screen is not dark enough, you can increase/decrease the opacity level and even change the black layer color to example green.

I will here describe three features of the Turn Off the Lights browser extension:

Atmosphere lighting

If you want to concentrate more on video player, then you can highlight the video using a custom color around the player. You can choose one solid or multiple colors for each side.

Dynamic Background

Want to see your video with a space or cloud background; it’s possible with this feature. Default is it disable because according to Developer Stefan Van Damme, purpose is to focus the video player with no distraction for the video watcher. But it’s handy to have this good option to make your own cinema stars wall.

Eye Protection

One of the new and good feature is the Eye Protection, this feature will dim the lights on all open tabs in your browser. So you can browse the web at night. You can enable/disable it with the shortcut key alt+F10. And if you enable the option to click through the page in the Turn Off the Lights option page, it will not undim the page when you click on a link or image.

Verdict

If you have found that web pages make it too difficult to concentrate on the content you want to see, this is an excellent extension that does its job amazingly well.
