The Indian budget smartphone is buzzing with various new handsets with great specifications and alluring price range. The Indian mobile maker, Spice Mobiles has come up with another new very affordable smartphone to join the marathon. The newly introduced Spice Stellar 509 comes with the attractive tag of Rs. 7,999, and needless to say is another market rival of the Moto E. Have a closer look at the new Spice Stellar 509 to check if it fits your latest low priced smartphone requirement.

Camera & Display

The new Spice Stellar 509 packs in a primary rear camera of 8 MP along with LED flash, which is expected to offer average performance. The device also offers a 2 MP front camera that is expected to facilitate good quality video calls as well as selfies. The cameras on the handset are pretty standard for its price point. Though the 8 MP sounds very good the actual performance can really differ on these low priced phones. Moreover, the rear cam also does not feature auto focus which is however cannot be found in its similarly priced rivals as well. The device comes with a standard 5 inch display with a screen resolution of FWVGA 854×480 pixels, which means a low pixel density of 196 ppi as well. This is really a downside as the display will not be clear and crisp. Spice could have either decreased the screen size or increased the resolution to offer a better display quality.

Processor & OS

The new Spice Stellar 509 comes powered with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz; the chipset is still unspecified. This processor is supported with a 1 GB RAM, which together is expected to offer smooth and fast multi-tasking and moderate overall performance without much of lag.
The Spice Stellar 509 runs on the previous version Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS without any promise of upgrade. This is little disappointing, as other affordable models now generally boast of the latest Android version 4.4 or KitKat.

Internal Storage & Battery

The in-built memory of the [tp lang=”en” only=”y”]Spice Stellar 509[/tp][tp not_in=”en”]Spice Stellar 509[/tp] is 4 GB, which is also standard in such mobiles. The storage can be expanded up to 32 GB as micro SD card slot flexibility is also there.

The new Spice Stellar 509 draws its power from a 2,000 mAh battery pack which is again standard in mobiles of this price range. However, the backup capabilities of this phone are yet not specified. This budget phone is expected to offer average but sufficient backup to the users.

Other Features & Price

The phone comes with a free cool flip cover and is available exclusively with online retailers. It offers all the standard connectivity options including 3G, 2G, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Wi-Fi. It also has the required Dual SIM functionality.
The new Spice Stellar 509 has launched with an affordable price tag of Rs. 7,999 which is slightly more expensive than its primary market rivals like the Moto E and Unite 2.
Conclusion
The new Spice Stellar 509 offers standard overall specifications, but the display quality could have been better.
