But there are also many apps that can help us with our day jobs and many of those are also rather cool, so here are two really cool workaday apps that once you try them you will wonder how you managed without them.

One of the coolest work related apps around is Jump which will work on the iPhone, the iPad and on any Android smartphone such as the Galaxy SIII. The app allows you to access your computer and apps from a remote location, which means that you can work from anywhere; you simply control your computer from your smartphone or tablet. It uses RDP (remote desktop protocol) and VNC (virtual network computing) and it is very secure and it can be set up automatically. You connect to your computer through a host name or IP address and it makes use of all the multi-touch, pinch zoom and other powerful facilities of your mobile device. There is a free version which allows you to connect to a single computer, and a paid version that allows you to connect to as many computers as you wish.

Businesses are also creating their own apps for customers to browse their range of services and products. These apps are also free and can be found on the iTunes store, such as the motors.co.uk app.

If you get around a lot in your job, then you will know how difficult it is keeping track of your expenses and receipts. After a few weeks on the road putting your expenses together can be a burdensome chore especially when you have a backlog of work to catch up with. What you need is Expensify, and app that keeps track of all of your business expenditure. Expensify runs on your mobile device and connects to the cloud. With it you can scan all your bills and receipts, record your purchases, log your mileage, sync with your credit cards, scan business cards and many other things that you need to record on the road. Later you can generate expense reports and analyse your expenditure.
Related Articles:

Every morning it gives at me that sad grin and reminds me what years of sedentary indulgence have finally lead to. But I have resolved to rid my bathroom of this unwanted guest and restore the more slender, agile me. It is true what they used to say; an apple a day does keep the doctor away.

Thanks to my Apple iPhone packed full of wonderful little apps, the battle against my weight has a better chance of being won. With these babies come innovative ways of managing fitness regimes and keeping body fat in check; victory is assured. In this article I will show you a few little known Apps that can help you a lot in your weight loss venture!

iFitness: your new gym partner

It is not the world’s biggest selling fitness app by fluke. This clever little program has more fitness programmes and exercise than all your previous gym instructors combined. And it gives you the steps in text, images or ready-to-eat video format. iFitness works with what you have to give you a suitable workout. Whether you are enrolled in a state-of-the-art gym or want to use what you have at home, your virtual fitness partner will fix something up for you. If you’re a bit more familiar with fitness matters than your average Joe, iFitness can still help you come up with a timetable to target specific muscle groups.

The app supplies you with a body map that shows you the different muscles and, at the touch of a screen button, the routines best suited for each kind of muscle. And since you know what you’re doing, iFitness simply helps you come up with your own schedule and keep track of your progress by maintaining statistics of what you have accomplished in every workout. It also collects other vital data such as your BMI, weight and yes, your nutritional intake. All this is packaged in a personalized user profile easily navigated through the friendly GUI pioneered by Apple. So basically everyone from Arnold Schwarzenegger to geeks like you and I can benefit from this ingenious app. Sadly, the app is no longer available in the App Store, but third-party softwares can still help you get it.

Don’t just have it, Lose it!

It was traumatizing to realize I could no longer slide into my favourite blue jeans; at least not without hoping about for half an hour struggling to pull up the zip. You probably have been through the same thing. The best way to lose the frustrating rolls of fat is to control what you eat. I’ve already tried that, you say, but sticking at it is the problem. Well, Lose it!is an App designed to aid those of us with flagging willpower.

The many dietary options it has are tailor made to give your body the nutrients it needs in the right proportions. Lose it!also helps you keep track of your calorie intake and set achievable targets which you can boast about achieving through Twitter and Facebook widgets.

Keep in step with Pedometer PRO GPS+

A simply brilliant user-friendly that measures the distance you walk or run and tells you how many caloriesyou’ve burnt along the way. If you don’t care for weights or going to the gym, this is the app for you; forget iFitness or iPump. It is meant for those who are taking baby steps to fitness; walking to work instead of driving or going out to get lunch rather than ordering it in. And it is just as robust as the other apps; it helps you map out routes (thanks to the GPS) and set goals so that you have steady progress. The achievement of your milestones can similarly be trumpeted to your friends (and enemies) on Twitter and Facebook.

Are you a DSLR shooter and do you own a super zoom lens? If you can answer yes to that double-question, then you’ve probably already heard about “lens creep”, or perhaps you’ve experienced it yourself, on your own lens(es), maybe even quite often.

If you answered “no” to the double-question, but you’re considering buying a super zoom lens, such as a 18-200mm, 18-250mm or 18-270mm (those are the most popular), you need to know about “lens creep”.

What is lens creep – or zoom creep?

Lens creep is also known as zoom creep, they mean the same, just different names I guess.

“Lens/zoom creep is the tendency for a lens to expend or collapse under its own weight when pointed upward or downward”.

This means, if you’ve zoomed in a little bit, to, say, 50mm, and you point your lens down to shoot something down below, the lens will extend by itself, essentially zooming in even further. This does of course not happen if you hold on to the zoom ring meanwhile, then it stays put – but if the camera is mounted on a tripod, then you’ll probably not want to hold the zoom ring while shooting. Same thing happens if you want to shoot something up high, the lens will collapse and zoom out.

Another down side is when you’re walking around with the camera hanging over your shoulder, lens pointing downwards. You may have it zoomed all the way out to 18mm, but as you’re walking around, don’t be surprised that the next time you pull up your camera, to find that the lens has actually extended to 2-3 times its size and is now zoomed all the way in. I hate that!

To avoid the latter problem, some lenses now have a switch on the barrel, so that you can lock it at 18mm. At least this means the lens doesn’t extend by itself when you’re walking around. It also means that you have to unlock it each time you need to take a photo at anything but 18mm focal length.

I know for a fact that the lock-switch is not present on the popular Nikon 18-200mm VR lens, the first version where the “VR” letters are in red. The second version, where “VR” letters are written in gold on the lens barrel, does have the zoom lock. Sigma 18-250mm HSM OS does also have the zoom lock, as well as the Tamron 18-270mm PZD VC (which is featured in this post a few times).

Still, even with the zoom lock, you’ll run into lens/zoom creep issues when you’re out using the lens and you point it down or up.

Introducing “Lens Band”

That’s when lens band comes into the picture (pardon the pun). A “lens band” is a more elegant way, and generally better way, to stop zoom creep on your lens, instead of using brown rubber bands found in various places (though they can also work, but maybe not as well).

Lens Band is sold online on lensband.com for just $4.99, and you can get various colors as well. Also, for $7.99 you can get a printed lens band if you want something more unique.

Lens band works by putting it over the lens barrel, so that it touches both the zoom ring and the lens barrel itself, adding friction between the two parts, making it harder for the lens to creep in or out. It also does make it slightly harder to zoom with your fingers, because of the added friction, but I think it’s very little and considering what you get (no more lens creep!), I think that’s a small price to pay. I’ve been out on a few photo walks using a lens band on my Tamron 18-270mm PZD VC lens and it works great, it has not bothered me once.

On a Tamron 18-270mm PZD VC, make sure NOT to put the lens band like this - it will prevent the focus ring from moving (and thus making the lens incapable of focusing).

Here’s a short video I made to show lens creep with, and without, the lens band:

Another very nice “feature” of the lens band, is its ability to help removing filters that might get stuck on your lens if you have tighten them too hard. Lens band can safely and easily remove 67mm, 72mm, 77mm and 82mm filters – just slide it over the filter and use it to get a better grip of the filter when you’re unscrewing it.

Also, a lens band makes a pretty cool headband for Danbo’s:

Oh, you want the red one instead? Okay…

Now, that’s one bad-ass cool Danbo!

Conclusion

Lens creep sucks, but unfortunately it’s the reality for most super zoom lenses out there today. Occasionally, you might get lucky and pick up a lens that doesn’t suffer – but the question is, for how long will you be “safe”? Paying almost 5 bucks to get a fix is not too bad, considering the amount of colors you can get it in, and therefor you can personalize your lens a little bit more. Lensband.com, you get a thumbs up from TechPatio!

Even though many people said that the new DEFY will just be a slightly improved version of the DEFY Mini, it is safe to say that they were very wrong. Namely, the Chinese market is going crazy about the new DEFY XT535, and there are apparently fantastic reasons for this. So, if you want to know why the new Motorola DEFY has been so popular in China, there is only one way to find out – keep reading this article.

First of all…

First of all, the best and the most interesting thing about this smartphone is the fact that it really is resistant to water, as well as dust. Even though this is a concept that has been ignored for some time now, someone did a great job and suggested that Motorola Mobility made a smartphone that would be rugged enough to take everywhere with you – and this literally means everywhere. Regardless of the fact whether you have planned to visit the beach, the local swimming pool, the ice skating arena or you simply want to go on a hike in the nature, this smartphone will be the perfect companion. What’s best about the new DEFY XT535 is that you will never again have to think about whether your cell phone is exposed to a little water or dirt, as it is completely water and dust-proof. This doesn’t mean that you will be able to soak it in water when it gets dirty, it just means that a splash of water every now and then will not hurt this handset at all.

The Display – Another Great Asset of the Motorola DEFY XT535

The new DEFY XT535 features a great 3.7-inch touchscreen, with the resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 16 million colors and the Multitouch feature. Aside from this, the scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass display just adds to the value of this cell phone, as it is very tough and can take a lot without even showing a scratch to prove it.

Ease of Use

There is a very interesting feature of the Motorola DEFY XT535, and this feature is called MotoSwitch. Namely, this feature is responsible for helping you use your cell phone in the best, the easiest, and the most convenient way possible by remembering every app and feature you use, as well as every person you talk to or interact with using the DEFY XT535. So, as a result of this, your home screen becomes full of apps you most frequently use, and the people you interact with regularly become more noticeable on the phone.

The Final Verdict

A 1 GHz singe-core processor, 1GB of ROM and 512 MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel main camera and a 3-megapixel front camera, and a 1650mAh battery to support all of this – the choice before you is pretty easy to make. What’s more, the price of this handset is far less than most people expected, so this is another reason why the new Motorola DEFY XT535 is well-worth considering.

From sharing applications to those used to transform everyday shots into masterpieces, there are plenty of incredible apps to choose from on the App Store. Some of the following apps are the “must haves” all iPhone users should be certain to download on their phone!

Perhaps the most popular sharing app of all is Instagram, which allows users to take snapshots and apply filters at the click of a finger. Choose from many different filters and borders, which can be applied to existing shots or new photos taken through the application. These photos are in turn shared across the Instagram user’s feed, as well as other networks that have been connected to the application.

Hipstamatic is another popular app, though you will have to shell out a few dollars to enjoy all it has to offer. This app promises to transform photos into shots that are reminiscent of analog photography. The base application comes with plenty of different film and lens options, though additional packs can also be purchased directly through the application. Final products can easily be shared across selected networks.

Camera+ is one of the most popular paid apps in the entire App Store, having received accolades from many reviewers, include TIME magazine and Wired. The Camera+ app builds upon the existing features of the iPhone’s camera, giving the user tools that make it easier to take beautiful photographs. Take advantage of 6x digital zoom capabilities, image stabilization, and plenty of effects to spruce up the final product. For just a dollar, this great app is truly a steal!

HDR FX is another popular option for users looking to add a little spice to existing shots on their phone. Different presets make it easy to optimize the specific elements of each photograph, with the photo analyzer suggesting presets that may work best for particular shots. The HDR FX app also features textures that can add a whole new level of interest to any photo. The app also features a complex set of tools that allow users to edit details like the photo’s opacity and shadows.

Of course, Apple itself also offers a powerful photo editing and cataloguing tool for the iPhone: iPhoto. Mac users will recognize iPhone from the iLife suite of productivity software found on every desktop and notebook computer from Apple. The mobile version of the software includes many of the great features found on the desktop counterpart, which have been transformed to comprehend multi-touch gestures. The app allows users to easily create slideshows and photo journals that can be shared with friends, while also incorporating sharing options for social media. Photos can also easily be printed via Airprint.

The ability to carry around a high-quality camera in one’s pocket is arguably one of the best features of the iPhone. The myriad of incredible photo apps available for the device further positions it as one of the leading devices for individuals who are obsessed with taking great pics wherever life takes them. By downloading some of these apps to your iPhone, you’ll join the masses who are discovering that taking artistic shots isn’t reserved for those with expensive cameras anymore. Instead, everyday consumers can take and share amazing photos by taking advantage of some of the available resources on the App Store.

But when you are on the go it becomes almost impossible to track and manage your finance. However, for most iPhone and iPad users there seems to be a solution.

Apple applications come for various categories. The category finance is one of the most important categories. Though Apple apps have a price tag, some of them can be downloaded for free.

Here are the top 5 finance applications which are free.

Now, even though this might have sounded a bit too harsh, the fact is that this handset was released on 12 March, and it hasn’t made a big boom. Actually, the buzz around the LG Rumor Reflex was expected to be much bigger when it was finally released, but this just didn’t happen. So, we are here today to review this cell phone, and you should think twice before you go out and get the Rumor Reflex. But, first things first – read the review and make an informed decision.

How Is the LG Rumor Reflex Eco-Friendly?

If you are trying to live in a green way, then you would probably want to get a phone that has been made out of recycled materials, right? Well, the LG Rumor Reflex is indeed and eco-friendly cell phone, but it is safe to say that it is probably not as eco-friendly as you would ideally want it to be. Namely, 31% of materials used in the making of the outside body of the Rumor Reflex are recyclable materials. If you expected more than this cell phone is probably not for you.

What Does this Cell Phone Have to Offer?

Well, if we wanted to be almost rude again, we would say not nearly as much as most of us expected from a cell phone that has been advertized so heavily. First of all, it features a physical QWERTY keyboard that slides out, which is considered by many as a drawback – as any moving part can be a problem if it is used constantly. It has a 2-megapixel camera, and a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display with the resolution of 400 × 240 pixels and 262,144 colors. Aside from this, it also has a 1000 mAh battery that is obviously insufficient and will give you only five and a half hours of talk, while the average talk time of cell phone in this price range if around seven hours. With the weight of 133 g it is slightly above average in its range, and it also has a not-so-fast 480 MHz processor. Besides this, the Rumor Reflex has only 52 MB of internal memory, which is a very low number in this department regardless of the fact that you can use a 32 GB MicroSD memory card with the phone. When it comes to music capabilities, the phone doesn’t feature a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

So, What Is the Verdict?

Generally speaking, you should never ignore a cell phone before you get a chance to really use it and see for yourself how good or bad it is in an everyday situation. However, it is very hard to be positive when it comes to the LG Rumor Reflex, as it doesn’t have any great features – they are all either mediocre or below average. So, you are probably better off looking at some other phones, one of the best options in this price range being the Samsung Replenish.
