Lenovo ThinkPad T430u Business Ultrabook

Lenovo had a pretty good year in 2011, releasing a lot of new business laptops as part of their ThinkPad line, but there was still one market uncovered – the ultrabook market.

The ultrabook has been inspired by the MacBook Pro, so companies keep releasing somewhat cheaper versions of the Apple product, coming in the same slim design and grayish casing. Lenovo has decided to try something a bit different with their new T430u ultrabook, and has equipped this one with more of a business design.

Coming as part of the ThinkPad business line of laptops from Lenovo, the T430u looks very professional and keeps the hardware power and slim design, which have made the new breed of laptops so popular.

Lenovo’s T430u has made a great impression among the visitors at CES 2012, by bringing a black, metal finish with no sign of rubber or the usual aluminum casing most ultrabooks come with.

This one comes in a clean, sleek design and it’s even more impressive when you open it up for a closer look. There’s a huge touchpad and an islet keyboard coming with the T430u ultrabook, while the red accents have been used for remarkable contrast.

The ThinkPad T430u is a bit over the ultrabook specs, measuring 21mm in thickness and weighing almost 4 pounds, but you could make an exception in its case, as this one brings a few more connectivity options in comparison to your average ultrabook.

For example, you will almost never find an Ethernet port coming with an ultrabook, but in T430u’s case it is present, in addition to the usual connectivity options, such as a SD card reader, an audio jack input and two USB 3.0 ports for blazing fast transfer speeds. Other extras include a fingerprint reader for authentication and a SIM card slot.

The hardware specifications will not disappoint either as the T430u comes with a selection of Intel’s Sandy Bridge, second generation processors (i5 and i7), aided by 4GB/8GB of RAM and a choice between a 128GB and a 256GB SSD for your operating system, that will enable faster booting times.

The two versions of the T430u both come with a 14-inch display, however the high-end model comes with a 1600 x 900 high resolution, while the lower-end model will get the standard 1366 x 768 HD resolution.

As for the price, the cheapest configuration of the Lenovo ThinkPad T430u will start at $849, which is a pretty low price for any ultrabook at this time. The bad news is that the T430u will see the light of day in the third quarter of 2012, so business men and women will have to wait a bit for their own professional Lenovo ultrabook.

  3. Lenovo make some super amazing laptops. My favourite of 2012 so far is the very latest release, the Lenovo Carbon X1 Ultrabook, which is actually the lightest Ultrabook in the world.

It packs a carbon fiber build and other awesome features. The Acer Aspire S7 Ultrabook also looks great however!
