Increasing use of cell phones has extended this industry and now a day more Smartphones are sold than PCs. Smartphones are playing an important role not in the personal life of people but in their corporate life too. According to a study, a person spends more time on his Smartphone as compared to internet browsing. However, when a person uses Smartphone for his business needs, he is concerned about the security of his information stored in the phone. People think that corporate data is more important. So, here is an overview of different mobile operating system that what security measures they take for the protection of their customers’ data.

Apple

Apple is considered as a ruler, if we talk about the Smartphones. Apple also has another edge because of many security measures. Usually, a mobile phone’s security is breached through the applications. In case of Apple, the company is very strict and it’s quality control is really hard to crack. So, in terms of security iPhone offers some great features. Like the sandboxing architecture, which minimizes the damage if an application is not good for the iPhone. New versions of iPhone are more user friendly rather they are created by keeping the corporate people in mind. Moreover, an analysis show that the majority of IT professionals considers iOS better than the BlackBerry, which was favorite, previously.

BlackBerry

BlackBerry has lost its charm to some extent, but still it is considered on top in terms of mobile security. It’s the first choice of  corporate sector all around the world. Many IT professionals rank iOS higher, but in terms of security blackberry is at the top, even now. It offers a larger number of options for the users, which makes it better than Google and even Apple. BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BES offers different options. BES is known for providing a fine balance between usability and security. Companies can take the advantage of this feature and make their data as secure as they want.

Google

Google has taken many steps forward by introducing Android mobiles. However, in terms of data security, its reputation is not good. Google applications are not really secure, which is a great cause of security breaches. In short Android has many loopholes, which do not favor security.

Windows

Windows phones are launched recently, so it’s too early to review their security features. However, Microsoft has worked hard for the security of its phones. Applications are controlled through strong policies and sandbox is also there for the protection.

  1. Well, I’m currently Google Android on my Samsung Smartphone and use only selected apps. I’ve noticed any security problem and I think that’s the key of remain secure, use less and verified apps only.

  8. Well, while Aasma’s point is right, not everyone with a smartphone is as secure or knowledgeable. Apple and BlackBerry have been tight in terms of security thanks to their app policies. Google, with its open philosophy hasn’t had a reliable system to vet the apps that come up on Play.
