TechPatio Received First PageRank – Now PR2

google_feeling_luckyPR2, it ain’t much, but it sure is better than what I had before: PR0. TechPatio is almost 4 months old so I kinda expected at least PR2 for the next PageRank update, which apparently happened within the last few days.

Now I probably have another 2-4 months until the next PageRank update, to build even more incoming relevant links and hopefully increase PageRank to PR4 🙂

Just one thing though, Google recently removed the PageRank section from their Webmaster Tools, saying:

We’ve been telling people for a long time that they shouldn’t focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it’s the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it. 🙂

Actually, I don’t care that much about PageRank either. I’ve seen plenty of evidence that it doesn’t require a high PageRank in order to rank up high in the search engines (SERPs). I’d just like to have a decent PageRank just to show that my blog at least has some kind of “value”.

What’s your take on PageRank and did you receive a PR update recently? Comment below!

  1. Well I think I partially agree on whatever you said at the end of the post.. I think PR is important because higher the PR, more quickly you get crawled and I think that is most important if you have a tech blog…

    • Yes and no… I’ve seen my posts being indexed in less than 30 minutes after being posted, I don’t think that’s bad, with a PR0 🙂

  2. First of all congratulations on your first pagerank, I’ve never really been an avid pusher of trying to increase the elusive Google pagerank, I’ve seen many sites that have a low pagerank and have a high ranking in the search engines, so is it really that important these days, as long as visitors stop by and have a root around our sites then that’s great…

    • Thanks Karen. Yeah me too, I don’t “push” it per se, but at least now I have PR2 so I can sit back and relax 🙂

  4. It looks like I am still at a PR 0. I think it hurts you for advertisers because they value Page Rank. If there are still people searching for your content and visiting your site then that is what matters at the end of the day. Greg Ellison

  6. Well done. I think again every little helps, regardless of whether it is seen the most important or less dominant in web development. I have a page rank of 3.

    • Thank you! Well at least you already have a decent PageRank of 4, so that’s not bad. I’ve heard it can be tough to get above PR4, but sooner or later…. don’t you worry!
