Apple’s App Store Reaches 3 Billion Downloads

The world-known App Store from Apple, I think it’s safe to say by now, just reached 3 billion downloads. In April 2009, nine months after launch, App Store reached 1 billion downloads and now they just reached the 3 billion downloads mark.

App Store is 18 months old now and with a total of 3 billion downloads, that comes out to 230,000 apps per day, on average. 77 different countries account for all the downloads. Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, said in the press release that:
“Three billion applications downloaded in less than 18 months—this is like nothing we’ve ever seen before”.

There’s no information, however, as to how many of the downloads are free apps and how many are paid apps.
