iPad Taken Apart By TechRestore, Cool Stop-Motion Video!

This is the coolest unpack/disassembly video I’ve ever seen. Well, at least that I can remember 🙂 It’s a stop-motion video created by TechRestore. Besides the cool sound effects, we also get to see the iPad deep inside.

For instance, it has two built-in batteries with more than 5x as much capacity as the iPhone.

Here’s another video from TechRestore, also on the iPad. This is more like a parody though, but funny.

  1. Two nice video to explain this new type of gadget. The first video look good but I’m not able to manage time for next one. Thanks for sharing.

    Dear Ricky,

*** A big chunk of the comment was removed by TechPatio, as it’s the same as already posted twice before, one of them being here: https://techpatio.com/2010/blogging/dr-ann-voisin-linda-christas-college-spam-comment/comment-page-1#comment-12295 ***

P.S. Yes, ToysPeriod also picks up the tab for the College’s web presence. Again they are being beaten up here for their generosity. Why anyone would do that is symptomatic only of a very shallow understanding of the effort by some to support private education where a public school system is imploding.

    • You’re really starting to look like a spammer to me… this is the 3rd time you post this exact comment (well, you have your “P.S.” added this time, but besides that, the same) – and your comment doesn’t even have anything to do with iPad unpacking, as this post is about…. ?

  3. In case Tech Patio wants to print a retraction (slim chance I know), here are the facts.

ToysPeriod uses lots of its profits to support a private system of education that the US Department of Education has in 2009 claimed to be a much better vehicle for teaching than face to face classroom formats, as those we use in our public schools in the US.

Many of us understand what they, ToysPeriod, are trying to do, and then there are some that will make ToysPeriod pay for any good deed.

ToysPeriod not only provides Linda Christas College with web service, but also with some scholarship money for students, including me.

So, naturally, when people misunderstand the situation, it’s like sticking a dagger into my heart.

Why would anyone do such a thing to begin with? Well, people are people, and as such, there are always some who will look for the worst possible interpretation of the facts in support of their own “superiority.”

In this case, the superiority turns out to be public foolishness.

ToysPeriod never spammed anyone in their lives. Akismet is under investigation and may be shut down or sued because of Civil Rights abuses, and new business owners who want to encourage business (and why wouldn’t they) are finding that at least 5% of potential business is trashed by Akismet’s anonymous banning processes in addition to 5% that the site might lose anyway.

Let’s see if you do the right thing here. I bet not.

Why not stop by ToysPeriod for a backlink. They are a Do Follow blog. I bet you will not find a better written blog anywhere. Why not turn acid in lemonade.

    • Leone – would you please stop posting your comments at the wrong post? This post is about an iPad – not about your college!!

And you’re right. I will not post a retraction. In my eyes, what you guys have been trying to do, is to take advantage of do follow blogs in order to get back links to – not your college – but a company website, ToysPeriod.

I still don’t see how on earth you plan on Akismet being shut down. It’s a free plugin that bloggers can use on their blog to keep spam away. Do you want to shut down Google too, because their Gmail spam filter might be keeping businesses away from reaching your e-mail account…?

  4. Klaus, You keep missing the point.

The point is that you made a mistake initially in this space, and some people followed you.

I am just trying to let you and them know what the facts are. However, instead you are adding to the disinformation, by now calling ME a spammer just because I am trying to tell you what the facts are that you misinterpreted to begin with.

    Why would you do that?

I am just using the same place that you used to slam a perfectly innocent and generous scholarship provider.

Unless you want me to telephone you so that I can hear your apology that way, I thought this would be a good place to write, since it is here that I first saw the error.

Just wanted to give you a chance to retract, Klaus.

You made a bad mistake, and are compounding it by attacking me who is just trying to get everyone who seems to have agreed with you without thought to understand that what you said was totally off base.

    • I’m not going to retract or give you an apology, Leone. You don’t get to decide who I want to have comments from, on my blog, and who I want to link to – or what plugins (Akismet) I run.

Just so you’re aware, you’re currently ruining the comments space for my iPad post. The post this is posted on (as a reply to your comment) is this post regarding an iPad, and has nothing to do with your college: https://techpatio.com/2010/tech-news/ipad-unpack-disassembly-stop-motion-video

    • I agree wholeheartedly. All we have seen from these people is spam. There has never been one valid comment about a post on our blogs; instead all they do is promote themselves and yap on about Akismet. I always delete these comments without a second thought. If you come to a blog to hijack the conversation toward your own interests and don’t even try to talk about the post, you are spam! If it walks like a duck..

  5. Dear Klaus,

Akismet is a plug in that allows public airways to be used to anonymously ban ethnic minority, women and political/religious groups.

It is one thing when a blogger chooses to ban someone from his or her own blog.

But, all it takes is three Akismet members to designate a source as spam FOR ANY REASON for that person to be banned over the entire net.

That’s where the law is being broken and where the ACLU will get involved.

Our communication satellites and telephone wires are paid for by everyone, and, as such, when groups are systematically denied access by a centrally controlled group, Civil Rights violations occur.

Let’s not mix our thinking. It’s perfectly OK for Klaus to ban ME for example, from this one blog.

It is not OK for Akismet to take Klaus’ decision and use it to ban me from thousands of blogs.

I do hope you understand that principle, Klaus.

Otherwise we are back in the 19th century under the white sheets.

Anonymity was used then to lynch folks. Anonymity is being used AGAIN by Akismet to symbolically lynch folks, folks who have done no one any harm.

ToysPeriod is a Do Follow site who would gladly give you a backlink or many backlinks, and they would never ban you or trash you sight unseen as you seemingly feel perfectly willing to allow to happen by your choice of plug-in.

      Yes, I agree.

I agree, somewhat. If you’ve read my blog, you’ll know how much I’m against the censorship going on in China. I don’t like that stuff, at all. But…

      You wrote:

Here I don’t agree. I am not forced by anyone to use Akismet. That’s my own decision. There are other spam protection plugins out there. But Akismet works great for me, with over 99% success rate. I have *decided* to allow Akismet to take action on my behalf to mark comments as spam on MY blog (it does NOT have any affect on other blogs, only this one!). And just for the record, I still browse through all my spam comments before I empty the queue, to clean out the comments marked falsely as spam.

I can understand why you might be upset that a group of people are able to “mark others as spam” (they’re not blocking them from commenting, only marking as spam), and so that action will go out to other Akismet users in the network. However, that’s just the way a spamfilter this way, works. There are mail spam filters that work exactly the same. If you’re on a shared webhosting plan with your website/blog and another customer on the same server, happens to send out spam, the server IP address will be banned, sometimes temporory, sometimes forever, until the webmaster requests an unblock. Even Microsoft Hotmail does this. No other users on that server will be able to e-mail to many addresses (including hotmail), because the sender IP has been marked as spam by other spam filters. It’s just the way it works.

I believe the bottom line is, you have a beef with Akismet, so you should take it up with them. I’m very happy with Akismet, as I said, it has over a 99% success rate at keeping spam away from my blog. The final 1%, I manually approve when I find them in the spam queue. It’s my own decision to allow Akismet to do the initial spam filtering on my behalf, based on recommendations/actions on other Akismet users.

  6. Very cool unpacking video — I hope TechRestore gets a bunch of business for its efforts! Quite frankly, after watching them “film the innards” of this gadget, it does not look too complicated to clean and do minor repairs on.

Do you have an iPad? I am thinking about it but still on the fence at this point.

    • Unfortunately I don’t have en iPad, yet 🙁 I was initially not planning to get one, until iTunes allows for movie/tv shows in Europe and iBooks as well (kindle-like books). But I think now, I don’t care – I just want one 🙂 It should be in Europe within 1.5 months, so depending on the price, I’ll pick one up here or I’ll bring one home from the US.

I’ve heard that the iPad is such a device that, if you’re on the fence about it, you’ll want one as soon as you get to play with it in real life 🙂
