BlackBerry Curve 9360 – Popular with the Young

The BlackBerry Curve 9360 will be a winner with those in the youth market for a number of reasons. BlackBerry is set to release the phone come the end of September and is orientating the device to be used with the youth market. The phone comes in at a mid range price and is substantially cheaper than the likes of the Torch 9810 and the Bold 9900, though offers many of the same features.

The phone is very attractive, dare we say more attractive than the other devices in the BlackBerry group. These attractive looks mean the phone is definitely set up for the narcissistic youth market. The phone comes in at a quite slim 11mm thick which is very slim for a BlackBerry. It also has curved edges which make it seem smaller than it actually is, and metallic edges which ensure the device looks good. The phone comes with a 2.44 inch screen which is not touch capacitive. However it does have the usual BlackBerry track pad.

The Curve 9360 has BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) which means that people can send messages to another BlackBerry phone for free. The Curve 9360 is a definite winner for those who don’t have credit or money to send a message. This is also great for staying touch.

The keyboard of the BlackBerry is ideal for this and feels as though it is made from quality components. The phone really comes together for sending messages because of this. The BlackBerry OS7 is the latest BlackBerry operating system and is a huge improvement on the previous BlackBerry OS6 – it is also the operating system used in the higher end Torch and Bold models which will give it some sway with the mid range phone market.

The device comes with a 5mp camera that is capable of 720p recording and is the same as the one in the Bold and the Torch phones. This camera is great for sharing on social networks and the 800MHz processor is fast enough to deal with shutter speeds and to ensure the phone is an adequate phone for using apps on and multitasking with.

The lack of apps on the BlackBerry app store however may be a put off for people who enjoy downloading the latest applications for their phone. However, the Curve 9360 offers the best BlackBerry features including the new OS in a much more affordable phone contract package than the higher end Torch and Bold devices, and may prove to be very popular with younger BlackBerry lovers.

  1. I was looking at one of these the other day and was thinking to myself that maybe it was time I upgraded from my BlackBerry Curve 8520, when it comes to apps though there are plenty or my needs such as Twitter, FaceBook and FourSquare etc. So for me I find the app store sufficient enough 😉

    • Karen, I have checked the new features from Curve 9360 and you’ll be amazed of what you’ll see. You will definitely love it. Don’t worry about that you’ll probably make the right choice. I’ll miss Curve 8520 though. 🙂

  2. My favorite thing about it the absence of the touch screen. I like the keyboard to be a keyboard and the screen to be a screen.

Does this sound like an old lady just said it?

  3. Hi Klaus,

I haven’t used any RIM’s smartphone, including the BB.

Though they are quite popular before iPhone, I know that they really have good products as well.

This blackberry is no exception, but if I decided on buying it, I am afraid I won’t be able to use it as easy as using my iPhone 3..

  4. This looks like a great new phone, the cheaper price is always nice too. Too bad there are no apps on blackberries though, apps are the best reason to get a smartphone.

  6. I recently bought the new blackberry torch. But I returned it to Sprint because one its on-screen keyboard was to small and then I heard thru the grapevine about sprint getting the Iphone. Don’t get me wrong I love my blackberry and EVO. But I have to get the Iphone just for fun. But I may get this new blackberry.

  8. Due to the presence of Blackberry services, iPhone and Android still not able to completely lure those Blackberry users. For certain countries like Indonesia, almost 70% of their populations use Blackberry phone. Android and iPhone is not so famous over there.

  9. We’re really fond of the design of the 9360, because it’s very slim, and impressively light as well. We suspect if RIM is able to keep the price low, this phone could be a big hit with young people looking to upgrade their BlackBerry.

  10. Hello, Klaus!
I was actually looking forward for purchasing this Blackberry model. I kinda laughed when I read here in your post that due to its attractiveness it is more likely to be chosen by narcissistic youth. Well, I am not specially young, but the fact is I like that this phone is slim and has a great camera. And now when I know that it even has a great keyboard, it is a reason more to add to the list of the great features this phone has.

  11. kids nowadays don’t know how to choose a good smartphone, at the same price you can definitely get something more advanced, or at least better looking. plus i don’t see blackberrys like a big competition on the smartphone market anymore.
