What are Duplicate files?

Duplicate file means creating or making exact copy of same file. Your Mac system may be storing large amount of redundant data on the hard drive in the form of duplicate files. These files can affect your system performance and make it slower and sluggish. To keep your Mac running smoothly, it’s necessary to do regular queries for duplicate files to make sure your computer doesn’t contain any data redundancies.

How duplicate files are created?

Mac users create multiple copies of their important files for backup purposes. Sometimes, installing new software also generates duplicate files. These files consumes lot of precious memory space and responsible for sluggish behaviour of Mac. When you first purchase your computer, it keeps on  processing with high speed. But, with the passage of time, you will notice a significant drop in your Mac’s ability. These problems occur because of  unwanted data like duplicate files, caches, system junks, language files, universal binaries etc…

There are number of ways to get rid of this problem. Your Mac operating system includes a useful search tool called “Spotlight,” which can be used to locate duplicate files. There are also a number of third-party tools available which can do both search for and remove duplicate files.

How to use Spotlight to remove these files:-

1. Click the Spotlight icon in the menu bar

2. Type a file name into the search field and click “Show All.”

3. The search results are listed alphabetically and will display results for any duplicate files that match your search query and you can remove them easily from here.

The other famous utility named ‘Stellar Drive Toolbox’ helps to regain the lost speed of your Mac. It is an all-in-one software that allows you to perform various operations on your hard drive like cloning, surface scan, volume repair, drive defragmentation, drive initilize etc.

1. Run Stellar Drive ToolBox and select speedup Mac utility.

2. Click ‘Clean My Mac’ button. All the drives with the corresponding volumes appear in the left pane. Choose the desired volume to be cleaned. Click ‘Continue’.

3. The software will now start scanning the selected drive for all Duplicate Files, Large files, Universal Binaries, and Language files.

  1. thanks to providing this tool for mac user. such as windows user we can brings many tools and used them. but for mac user their are many limitation and software easily not find thanks to provide mac user duplicate file cleaner
