Every year the number of U.S. patent applications increases. This means that each year there are substantially more inventors creating new technology than the year before. These inventions are made to improve every aspect of our lives, including our health, jobs, and interactions. Chances are, the number of new devices will continue to climb this year and make changes to our lifestyles. The following are just a few examples of amazing technology coming out this year to keep an eye out for.
Samsung’s The Wall
At CES in January, Samsung unveiled their newest TV to watch out for, appropriately named The Wall. The Wall is a 146-inch modular TV that uses MicroLEDs, which is similar to the technology in scoreboards and jumbo screens. Although this technology is not new, Samsung is the first to create a TV with it. Samsung has not yet disclosed a price on this humongous TV, but it’s set to be released later this spring.
Frigondas
Frigondas is an entirely new microwave concept that not only heats food up, it cools it down, as well. This appliance is bringing flash freezing to everyday households for a much lower price than other flash freezers go for. While professional flash freezers used in restaurants go for as much as $50,000, the Frigondas is set to be sold for only around $1,000. Along with the typical functions of a microwave, it can also freeze food in just six minutes. Clearly, most homeowners don’t own blast freezers, likely because of their large size, so the Frigondas was created to fix this problem. It’s just slightly larger than the typical microwave, so it will fit easily in the common household. A release date for the appliance has not yet been revealed, but it’s expected sometime this year.
NeoMano Robotic Glove
The NeoMano Robotic Glove is a device that assists those who have suffered a spinal injury to perform daily tasks such as eating with a spoon or drinking out of a cup. Spinal cord injuries have lasting effects that range from numbness to paralysis. This technology allows those that have previously struggled with day-to-day tasks to be able to have more autonomy. The leather glove is controlled by remote and covers the thumb, index finger, and middle finger with titanium wires that move each digit to either a gripped or released position. Check out the glove on Kickstarter later this year for less than $1,000 each.
Kuri
The Kuri Home Robot is one of the most fun technology introductions of 2018. Kuri has some incredible features such as the ability to record video, make gestures, and move around your home on its own. This personal robot was created to enhance your family member’s lives by taking care of tasks for you. It’s meant to be a companion to inspire creativity, capture moments, provide entertainment, and more. Preorders are currently being taken for the $899 robot to be shipped out this summer. If you’re interested in taking the next step from Alexa and Siri, Kuri is definitely something you should look into this year.
