5 Powerful iPhone Tech Tips You Wish You Knew Sooner

When Apple updated their mobile operating system to iOS 12 (and higher), it came packed with new features that were designed to make iPhones better than ever.

Since its inception, the iPhone has come a long way and continues to make for a better user experience and offer people features not found anywhere else. But if you’re not all that techie, and don’t know how to tap into these new features, you risk missing out.

Today we’re going to share with you some powerful iPhone tech tips you are going to wish you knew sooner. Some will make your life easier, others will boost productibity, and some are just plain cool.

1. iOS Magnifying Glass

Have you ever been reading something really important on your iPhone, only to find yourself unable to see the small text? If you have, you’re not alone. And while proper UX and web design standards state that making websites accessible for all people, regardless of physical ability, the truth is, mobile devices have some way to go before becoming fully accessible.

That said, if you go to Settings > General > Accessibility, you’ll be able to enable the ‘Magnifier’ feature on your iPhone.

This customized camera UI lets you snap a screenshot, zoom in on the image, lock the focus, and even turn on the flash to make small text more readable.

2. Automatic Updates

If you’re anything like us, you always click ‘Remind me later’ when an update is available for anything on our phones.

If you’re tired of seeing these silly reminders, and forgetting to actually update the software responsible for making your phone run smooth, just enable the new automatic update feature.

Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates and let the newest iOS handle all software updates when your phone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi.

3. Safari Favicons

Favicons are little icons that help you identify a website when it’s open in a tab. They let you take a quick look at what tabs are open and help you navigate to the tab of your choice with ease. The weird thing is, up until iOS 12, favicons were nowhere to be found in any iOS version. Until now.

Navigate to Settings > Safari and toggle on Show Icons in Tabs to turn on favicons and start making your mobile internet experience that much better.

4. Notification Grouping

Arguably one of the best features found in iOS 12 is the ability to group notifications together into an all-or-nothing affair.

Seeing a ton of separate notifications pop up and appear randomly on your iPhone’s interface creates clutter. To enable notification grouping, simply navigate to the ‘Notifications’ section of each app that you’ve allowed notifications for and toggle on Notification Grouping. This will add that particular app to the group of notifications you’ll receive at once.

And there you are! 4 of the most helpful tech tips found in the iPhone iOS 12 update that most non-techie people wouldn’t otherwise know about.

If you have an outdated iPhone and want to upgrade to a newer device, on top of having the most recent iOS update, sell used iPhone using a convenient service like Gadget Salvation for cash in hand to be used on your next iPhone purchase. From there, show off everything you now know and make the most of your Apple device.
