Get 2 Months of Apple TV+ for Free on Will Smith’s New Movie Emancipation

Apple has launched a new offer that gives its customers the opportunity to enjoy two months of Apple TV+ for free, as a partnership deal with Will Smith to celebrate the premiere of his new movie entitled “Emancipation” on the streaming platform.

As a way to promote his new film Emancipation, Will Smith announced on his Instagram account that new and existing Apple TV+ subscribers can get a free subscription to the service for two months.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the Apple original film “Emancipation” is inspired by a true story of a man named Peter who goes through harsh experiences in an attempt to reunite with his beloved family. Taken away from his loved ones, Peter then escapes the shackles of slavery. Relying on his wits, faith and deep love for his family, he tries to evade his ruthless hunters and the perilous swamps of Louisiana on his journey for freedom.

The film is inspired by the photograph of “Whipped Peter”, taken in 1863 during a Union Army medical examination in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This shocking visual proof of the brutality of slavery made Peter’s photo of his strafed back one of the most widely circulated images of slavery of its time. The image was a powerful contradiction to the lie that enslaved people were treated humanely, a common sentiment of those who agree that slavery should not be abolished.

The film stars Will Smith, Charmaine Bingwa, Ben Foster and Mustafa Shakir.
