iPhone Camera With 8x Zoom Lens

iphone_8x_izoom_lens_princetonDespite being only 3.2 megapixel, the iPhone 3GS camera ain’t that bad after all. Give it some proper lighting and it will be at least as good as other 3.2 megapixel phone cameras with autofocus.

But, it lacks zoom, for obvious reasons.

Now the Japanese have a solution to that (who else than the Japanese would be able to pull this off): Princeton, the company, will release a lens for iPhone 3G and 3GS in December, adding 8x zoom capabilities to the iPhone camera.

Focus is done manually on the lens.

The name? iZoom. Of course. Price? Unknown.

    • Hi Sandesh – thanks for your comments.

I’d love for you to elaborate on what iPhone “lacks a lot”? 🙂

  2. Trust the Japanese to solve any problem you can think ok 🙂 Not sure how well this will do as anyone who is interested enough in photography to carry a lense around would probably not be using an iPhone to take their photos.

    • I agree. You can get a MUCH better camera that doesn’t take up much more space than the iPhone anyway.

  3. It looks interesting but when it comes to real life, I don’t think it’s a good idea. Looks weird though

    • It sure does look weird and I wonder how many people will actually want to walk around with that thing in the pocket.

Wouldn’t mind testing it though, if they decide to send me one 🙂
