Twitter Now Worth One Billion Dollars

twitter_logoTwitter is a rather small company with just 50 employees in San Francisco, but already worth one billion dollars, as they just received an injection worth $50 million.

Twitter has not officially confirmed this new $50 million, which most of it came from Insight Venture Partners in New York, but TechCrunch reports that the employees was informed of this on a meeting a couple of days ago.

Earlier this year, Twitter received around $35 million from Benchmark Capital and Institutional Venture Partners. Back then, the company’s value was set at $250 million

If you’re not already following me on twitter, why don’t you? I promise I’ll follow back, if your tweets are not too “spammy”, that is 🙂

  1. I just read this on Twitter, pretty amazing meanwhile they have yet to make any money or have plans of how they are going to make any money.

Meanwhile my tanning salon business is having the biggest year it’s ever had in six years and if I were looking for some backing, no luck.

    • That doesn’t make much sense, I guess companies are just more willing to invest in something that doesn’t pay off…. wait, that doesn’t make sense either 🙁 Well, at least your tanning salon is doing great, so I expect to see an Extreme Tan & Smoothies in Europe by the end of next year 🙂

  2. That is awesome, isn’t it? A service where we can type in 140 characters or less for the world to see..or for those who choose to see.

  3. This is pretty amazing. It’s crazy how Twitter has caught on and now pretty much everyone (at least in the US) knows about it. They do a good job and we will see what the future holds now, I guess.

    • Many people in EU knows about Twitter too, but most of the “normal” people that I talk about Twitter with, doesn’t have a clue what to do about Twitter and they would never even consider getting an account as they think it’s stupid to let the world know that you’re taking a dump or eating a hot dog. I guess it’s because they don’t know that Twitter is what you make it out to be. E.g. if you follow SEO people, you’re not gonna know about who’s eating a hot dog or not, but you’re going to get a ton of SEO related articles.

    • Just wanted to let you know that I’ve removed the URL from your post as I don’t allow keywords to be used as name, and I don’t think that your name is “web design Miami” – usually I’d just “no follow” the link but it seems that YOU post many different links under different names, so I’d say you take advantage of my “do follow” generosity.
