Apple intends to update three of its iPad models next year, namely the new iPad Pro, the entry-level iPad, and the iPad Air 5 with wireless charging.
On his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared that Apple will be releasing a redesigned iPad Pro model with wireless charging in 2022. Other than that, he says Apple is planning to release the new iPad Air 5 and entry-level iPad models.
For this year, the tech giant released a new entry-level iPad with upgraded internal components. A 12MP ultrawide camera with Center Stage capabilities for video calls, the A13 chip, True Tone and many more are included. Apple is keen on updating its entry-level iPad with new internals and minor tweaks every year. The improvements or changes they make are not overly big or drastic so as to keep the price low.
It has been speculated previously that the upcoming entry-level iPad will have a bigger display and a thinner design. Apple’s 2022 iPad Pro launch will lead to major changes in design language, and many hope that it will soon transition to mid-range models.
Moreover, Apple plans to release the iPad Air 5 in 2022. Many rumors emerged in the past pointing out that the iPad Air will be equipped with OLED panels from Samsung next year. It appears that would not happen, as Apple may once again opt for an LCD panel.
As significant design changes were introduced to the iPad Air 4, many believe that the iPad Air 5 will focus primarily on updated internal components. The device is expected to include the A15 Bionic chip, Center Stage, 5G capabilities and many others.
Apart from the new iPads, Apple is also believed to have a bunch of new Apple Watches, including a rugged model, and as many as five new Macs in the works – all scheduled for a 2022 release.
