To celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year on February 1, Apple has launched a special-edition AirPods Pro with a cool custom-designed tiger emoji, and it is available throughout online and retail stores in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
The company has also introduced a special Apple logo to celebrate the New Year, just as they did last year. The tech giant also has Year of the Tiger artwork and decals displayed at select retail stores in China.
According to the Chinese calendar, 2022 is the Year of the Tiger. The special-edition AirPods Pro sports a tiger emoji printed on the wireless charging case, with a bigger red version printed on the AirPods Pro box.
The special-edition Tiger AirPods Pro is still the same price as the regular AirPods Pro. For instance, the Tiger-themed AirPods Pro is priced at HK$1,999 in Hong Kong, just like the standard AirPods Pro. The product is available both via online orders and for pick up in participating Apple retail stores.
The Tiger AirPods case features the latest MagSafe technology; therefore, just like the new third-generation AirPods, the case will snap right on to a magnetic MagSafe charger.
When bought at Apple retail stores in China, buyers reported they have also received a set of 12 red envelopes with a Chinese zodiac animal printed on each of them in emoji form. Gifting red envelopes to family and friends, often with money inside, is a New Year tradition amongst Chinese.
Last month Apple also released a special edition AirTag to celebrate the Japanese New Year, with a slightly different tiger emoji engraving.
