Apple WWDC 2022 introduces new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura and watchOS 9

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicked off on Monday, June 6, with keynote from Apple CEO Tim Cook.

WWDC 2022 shall run from June 6 to June 10.

This is the 33rd WWDC since it started. This year’s conference had a first-of-its-kind special event held at the Apple Park, which welcomed developers, students and media to witness the keynote, Platforms State of the Union, and an unveiling of the brand new Apple Developer Center.

Attendees were presented the latest generation of the operating systems that powers its devices: Apple Watch, iPad, iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch. Apple announced new features coming to iOS16, iPadOS16, watchOS9 and macOS Ventura. WWDC 2022 also went big on hardware. The Cupertino company announced the completely redesigned MacBook Air and updated 13-inch MacBook Pro powered by its own silicon M2 chip.

Here’s what Apple announced in the 2022 edition of WWDC:

MacBook Air

All-new strikingly thin design and next-generation M2 chip. Featuring a beautiful Liquid Retina display, 1080p FaceTime HD camera, four-speaker sound system, and up to 18 hours of battery life.

13-inch MacBook Pro

Now more capable than ever with the new M2 chip. Featuring a brilliant Retina display, FaceTime HD camera, studio-quality mics, and up to 20 hours of battery life.

iOS16

Personalize your Lock Screen with photos, customized widgets, even the way you get notifications. Create a Shared Photo Library to share photos and videos with loved ones. Enhance everyday moments with powerful new features in Messages and Mail.

iPadOS 16

Switch between multiple overlapping apps and create your ideal workspace with Stage Manager. Connect to an external display and drag and drop files between devices. Explore full maps and rich details in the new Weather app for iPad.

macOS Ventura

Stay focused while moving between tasks with Stage Manager. Easily hand off a FaceTime call from one device to another. And with Continuity Camera, you can seamlessly make your iPhone your Mac webcam.

watchOS9

The Workout app is packed with more features than ever. Track your meds in the new Medications app. Get more insights into your sleep and heart health. And enjoy more watch faces with more personalization.
