Packing is one of the most challenging and exciting things about traveling. It is satisfying while you put everything into place but can turn into a nightmare if you miss any important items.
It becomes even more challenging when you are traveling alone because there is no one to remind you of any missing item. Plus, you can’t rely on anyone else and divide the essentials to pack. It’s just YOU. That’s why packing for a solo journey is many times more complex. The only way to prevent any mishaps is by packing days before the flight and keeping a checklist of all the essentials.
To help you out, we have prepared a list of all the essentials you may need for your next big solo trip. So, let’s get straight to it.
Home Essentials
Now, you don’t have to carry home items while traveling cause hotels already have them. Still, they don’t feel like home. Also, these items will prove to be a blessing if you stay in an Air BnB or a cottage.
- Electric Cooker
Having room service and all is great but the freedom to cook anything is priceless. You can keep an electric cooker with you to enjoy any delicious, healthy meals at any time. It doesn’t even require a stove.
- Iron
Steam or dry iron is necessary to look good in travel pictures and flaunt your style. A steam iron may be better for being lightweight and easy to carry.
- Bedding Needs
No matter whether you stay in a hotel, air BnB, guest house, or cottage, you will eventually get a bed. What you want is the comfort of your bedroom. Having your own blanket, sheets, and pillow may make you feel at home.
Tech Gadgets/ Mobile accessories
Let’s be honest, the modern world runs on technology. No matter whether you are traveling to a hillside or an island, no need for technology to keep you connected and updated. Apart from your smartphone, these tiny gadgets will ensure you get out of every bad situation.
-
Portable Charger
An extra portable charger or a power bank is mandatory to keep your phone working. Keep it charged so your mobile never runs out of battery at times of need.
Connect your mobile to a charging port, Laptop, screen, or even Television with a handy data cable. You can transfer data to and from anything to your device with a powerful data cable.
-
Headphones
Who skips headphones these days? Many packing-stressed people!
To ensure you don’t become one of them, write them in your checklist. Wired or wireless, that’s your call. If it were up to me, I would like to keep them both as a backup. Earbuds and Bluetooth headphones are the best latest gadgets in this category. Prefer them if you love a noise-canceling feature in busy areas.
-
Universal Adapter
No one knows when, how, and why you may need a universal adapter. It just happens fast and always on times when there seems no backup. That’s why I would always recommend keeping this tiny device in your backpack so you can turn every socket into something useful.
-
Tripod
A tripod may not be “essential” but it surely is a bonus. You can record your travel videos, take pictures, or make a documentary with ease through a travel-friendly tripod.
Personal Care Products
Don’t forget to take care of yourself in another part of the world. After all, it’s you and only you that can save you.
-
Toiletries
Toilet accessories include a towel and a toiletries bag with all your washing and caring needs. It must have a shampoo, body wash, shaver/razor, toothpaste, toothbrush, and a nail cutter. Keep a separate makeup bag.
-
Grooming Products
Personal grooming products vary from person to person. However, there are some items that every gender must use. These involve a moisturizer, sunscreen, deodorant, hair dryer, hair brush, and cleanser.
Clothing and Accessories
Everyone understands their clothing needs better, so I won’t be very specific here. You can keep whatever clothes you feel confident and comfortable in. However, I would surely give some suggestions as to what can be beneficial.
In my opinion, denim jeans can be very practical in all situations. Joggers or sneakers are another must-have for wandering in the lands. A swimsuit, wool jacket, flip flops, shorts, rain suit, sunhat, and sunglasses can also help a lot in specific situations. Also, don’t forget to pack your sleepwear!
Other Must-Haves
The rest of the items you should not dare to miss are below. Add them to your checklist and have a safe tour.
- First aid kit
- Door and bag lock
- Umbrella
- Medicines
- Extra rucksack
- Laundry bag
- Glasses/contact lenses
- Copies of your important documents
- Tissues or napkins
- Portable water bottle
- Cash and credit cards
Go Solo!
Solo traveling is one of the best things you can do for your mind and body. It opens your inner eye and helps you see the world from a different perspective. You are boundless, free, and confident. And who knows, you may make some across-the-border friends for years!
Of course, you will have fun and all but never compromise on your security. Always share your trip details like flight number or hotel room reservations with your close friends and family. You can also give them your live location so if anything goes wrong, you will have people to make it right.
