iPhone 3GS In Malta By Vodafone Late October

Steve Jobs with iPhoneSorry non-Maltese readers, you will probably not find this one that much interesting. However, I know a lot of people in Malta are getting really impatient waiting for the iPhone 3GS to arrive in Malta and Vodafone doesn’t seem to be willing to release any information at all, not even an expected release date. When iPhone 3GS was first announced by Apple they said, I believe, that both Malta and Denmark would be receiving the iPhone 3GS On July 9th (as I recall). Three danish providers (Telenor, Telia and “3”) recently announced that they will start selling the iPhone 3GS on July 31st, that’s 3 weeks later than the expected date by Apple.

So far, no news from Vodafone Malta though. But Anthony from the “iPhone 3G / 3GS in Malta”-facebook group now has some information to share:

Vodafone Malta is expected to launch Apple’s iPhone 3GS late this summer. Early speculations suggest a late October release with a price of 599Euros and 699Euros for the 16gb and 32gb models respectively.

Contract plans are expected to remain the same, although Vodafone have already doubled the data limit to 1.2gb and 2gb monthly for the Personal & Business contracts respectively. Most probably this is to reflect how demanding apps are becoming.

It’s worth noticing that the unlock price is likely to be €200 like it is with the current iPhone 3G (despite I managed to have it unlocked for €70 at Vodafone Malta), so buying an iPhone 3GS in Malta could turn out to be an expensive experience.

  1. Vodafone Malta did launch the iPhone 3GS and it’s been a success, I got one too hehe. Prices are now bit cheaper as well. I can’t imagine living without the iPhone, use it all the time for practically everything.
