On Friday you will be able to purchase the soccer game FIFA 2010 from EA Sports for iPhone and iPod Touch. The price is yet to be announced but is expected to be around $10.
EA announced their plans for iPhone and iPod Touch gaming back in March 2009 and now, some 6 months later, FIFA 2010 is ready to be released.
It’s said that the game will contain 30 different leagues, 570 different teams and 12,620 players. An impressive database if that holds true, plus multiplayer support using the built-in WiFi.
When it comes to FIFA vs PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) for PlayStation, then I’ve always preferred FIFA. With that said, I think EA has been making the game worse every year, for some time now. They add visual effects and maybe some new tricks etc., but the user interface in the menus are amazingly stupid. It takes a ton of keypresses just to set up an online match and if it fails you have to go through the whole process again.
Same thing when you want to play a match, why do you have to get through the arena where you can shoot at a goal all by yourself all the time (it’s okay when the game loads but not after!), and why should you confirm (twice, as I recall?) that you want to go to back to the main menu after you played a match – it’s not like you have that many other options…
And what’s up with all the keypresses necessary to even get into the game after you launched it through the PlayStation menu?!
I could rant on and on about how much I’ve come to dislike FIFA in the past few years, but I haven’t played in a long time so luckily I forgot most of the things that I hate about it.
With that said, I don’t see how they EA could have made the iPhone game any worse – I might actually consider getting FIFA 2010 for my iPhone 3GS. I enjoyed playing “Real Football” by GameSpot (a great game maker for handheld devices!).
I purchased it just today for the Playstation 3 From UK. I’m just afraid about one thing. The Ebay seller asked me to pay him directly from paypal without passing throught ebay so that he doesn’t make me pay the shipping fees and he saves money on Ebay fees… Will I still get the paypal buyer protection in case I don’t receive the game? I bought it from England cause in my country some sponsor like Bwin and Carlsberg are forbidden…

I’m not sure about that, sorry 🙁 But I wouldn’t pay him unless he has really good feedback – and not just for cheap items. eBay scammers often sell a ton of very cheap items to get positive feedback, so that they can scam a few users when they want to sell items worth a lot more.
He seems to be a good ebay seller. He replied to all of my comment and told me that if the game is lost, he will send me another one, because he as a guarantee… well I’ll keep you posted about how it’s going. Hope i’ll receive the game soon, or I’ll ask for refund to paypal.

I hope it works out for you 🙂
But scammers can be nice people too and answer all questions politely and offer all kind of guarantees – but if he doesn’t have any feedback (or very little) or it’s bad feedback, I would steer clear.
He made more than 300 sell… he is an ebay powerseller from UK, with 100% good feedback, that’s why I trusted him. He keep saying that he didn’t receive the game from manufacturer yet in UK, but the game was already release in my country on 1st of october!

I hope you’ll be okay then and receive the game as soon as possible!

I love the Winning Eleven (or Pro Evolution Soccer) better than FIFA though. But again, I don’t think I want to play it on a mobile phone lol

Real Football from Gamespot is really good for the iPhone. Obviously it’s not the same experience as playing football on PS3 or similar, but if you’re on the move then it’s better than nothing 🙂
Winning eleven is just good to play witht the Japanese league version. Since FIFA 2008, FIFA became better than PES, especially in gameplay and license.

I’ve just bought the iPhone for my son’s 21st and I reckon he’s going to get this app for sure. Hopefully the 16gig phone is going to be enough for his needs.

I’m sure 16GB will be just fine. I used to have an 8GB iPhone 3G, now replaced with the 16GB 3GS and even though I have lots more music and video on this one, I still have 5GB available.
The great thing about it, and iTunes, is that you just set it to sync X amount of unseen videos etc., so you don’t have to carry around with ALL the video podcasts all the time, but only the 5 latest, for instance. So if you sync on a regular basis, then you never run out of content.
That’s nice to know Klaus. Obviously I bought him the 3GS version. I couldn’t see the point, other than to save a few bucks, in getting old technology. I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he gets it. 🙂

The 3GS itself isn’t exactly a wonderful devices when you look at the specifications… 3mp camera only, no flash, no expandable memory etc. But who cares about that, only geeks do 🙂 What matters is the way the iPhone works and how well and easy it does stuff. I’m sure your son will love it – doesn’t take long for him to get to know it.
