Windows Mobile 6.5: All The New Features

windows-mobile-6-5-screenshotMicrosoft Windows Mobile 6.5 didn’t exactly win any prizes when it was released last week, but it does have some visual changes and new features you can enjoy, while you wait for Windows Mobile 7 to be released sometime next – here’s a list:


  • MSN Widget (real-time weather, sports, etc.)

  • NewsBreak Lite (RSS reader)
  • Netflix Mobile Manager
  • Games: Suduko, Board Games, Texas Hold’em Poker, Kaglom, Solitaire Legends (Magmic), SimCity Metropolis and Spore Trial (Electronic Arts)


  • Microsoft My Phone (backup your data)
  • Windows Marketplace for Mobile (M$’s App Store)

Mobile Internet

  • Adobe Flash Lite plug-in
  • Zoom, scroll etc. optimizations
  • Search in address bar
  • Automatic search suggestions
  • Switch between mobile and full version pages

Get Started

  • CD-less Out Of Box experience: shouldn’t be necessary to include a CD in the package
  • Create your own Today screen
  • Design themes, e.g. Halo theme
  • Clever screen lock where you can still access basic functions even though the phone is locked (Pro-version only)


  • Gesture-control


  • Conversations (threaded view of e-mails)
  • Identify which messages you have already replied or forwarded

  6. Wow! New features looking very promising, it will boost the sale of Windows mobile, personally I am not a big fan of Windows mobile but it is coming with more and more blogging features which attract my attention towards these phones.

    • Up until 6.5, I wouldn’t even consider getting a Windows Mobile device again. Well, not even with 6.5, not that Android is here. Before iPhone and Android, a WM 6.5 device could probably have been considered but I seriously doubt I would enjoy using it.

      Let’s see how Windows Mobile 7 will be.
