iPhone 4 Unlock Now Available – And It Couldn’t Be Easier!

I don’t jailbreak. I’m not against jailbreaking but I don’t do it myself and I don’t recommend it to anyone. Those who are tech savvy enough to jailbreak, will figure it out by themselves sooner or later.

With that said, I was curious to try out the recent iPhone 4 jailbreak – and unlock by Dev Team – which was just released by Dev Team in Cydia. Mostly because my iPhone 4 hasn’t been legally unlocked yet, I expect it to be within the next 48 hours, but who can wait that long?

All I did, was visit www.jailbreakme.com from the iPhone Safari browser and let it do its thing. It only took a minute or so and my iPhone was now jailbroken and Cydia was added to the homescreen. Launching Cydia and it will ask if you want to update, I did a “complete upgrade” and then I went to search for “ultrasn0w” and it appeared. If it doesn’t appear, you might have to add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com in Cydia.

Now the only thing left to do, is click on “Install” for ultrasn0w within Cydia and within a minute, iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0.1 has been unlocked (takes a reboot).

That’s it. Enjoy your unlock!

  1. I don’t understand why you would want to unlock you phone either. Are you able to do more things, are you unable to access certain things if you unlock it.?

    • Hi Shane. Unlock is only so that you can use it with other SIM cards than the one you got it with. For example, in USA, they buy it with AT&T contract. But if you don’t want to use it with AT&T, you either have to pay AT&T a fee to unlock it – or you jailbreak it and unlock it yourself, and then you can put a Verizon SIM card (or whatever) into it.

    • I’m just waiting for the provider to unlock my iPhone 4 legally, so hopefully tomorrow they’ve done it and then I can restore it back to normal, without jailbreak.
