I spent like 4 hours walking around in -8*C degrees (17*F) shooting with the Nikon D7000, which by the way, did quite well. Over 200 photos during 4 hours in freezing weather and it used only around 15% of the EN-EL15 battery, that’s not bad at all.
So, the first photo below was shot during a very golden sunset next to a frozen lake. I believe you call this kind of plant for “reeds” but I’m not sure. Doesn’t matter. When I saw how that golden light was hitting the reeds (?), I just had to take a backlit photograph of it. This was the best I could do.
The second photo is a building located on top of one of the highest points in the country where I’m currently on vacation for the Christmas holidays (in Scandinavia). It was begging for a black & white conversion, so I gave it one and I like how it turned out. Added a little bit of vignette as well.

That looks like one COLD place, brotha!
I like the first one. I’m not sure if it’s reeds, too! 🙂
I am not going to pretend that I know much about photo art… When would you say that a capture “is begging” for a black and white?
In this case, becase there was not much color in the scene anyway, due to snow and frost.
I love the reeds, they really stand out against the background. Makes me want to explore further..
For the second pic, it will be good to see the actual shot against the black and white conversion.
I love the second shot, nice capture. Enchanting indeed.
Love the first photo, did you ad any color filters to it? Polarization?
No I didn’t have any filters on the lens – and in post processing I mostly adjusted curves.
Great Shots! I like the first photo. But the 2nd one is not bad at all!
Nice capturing of this image.
That second photo really emphasizes the spirit of Scandinavia!
lovely!! an exact shot .
I like the first one.
The DOF is good and i like the soft colors !
I love the second pic. The first one is pretty too, but the second one is breath taking.
I am hoping to see the end of frigid weather here in the US soon. It hit too early for my tastes. ha/ha
The first is awesome bro! you really take extremly good photos
I really like the first one, rather than the second one, because the first one shows a lot of colors and texture to the photos. wonderfull
