Unfortunately my picture doesn’t really do the scene justice, it was much nicer in real life. Usually snowscapes looks really great in black & white, but I wanted to show the clear blue sky in this one so I didn’t convert it to B&W. I added a bit of vignette, though.
There was probably no reason to shoot this at f/2.8 – except that I can, thanks to the Sigma 70-200/2.8 which was used to make this photo
I’m using +1 EV (Exposure Compensation) because all the white and bright would otherwise fool the cameras exposure meter.

The shot does have that Christmas feel to it, most of the trees by us have been like this recently, sadly though, we are back to the awful thawing out and the it’s all turning to slush, but I am hoping for a return for a white Christmas
“Christmas feel” – you’re right, that’s probably what I was thinking I liked about it
The white Christmas tree. And it really blends well with the clear blue sky. Nice shot Klaus.
Thank you, Ron!
I wonder if you will be creating a brand new PHOTO blog soon. =)
I have considered it, but no. It takes too much work to maintain multiple blogs especially when you have to build it from scratch. On this one, I already have the traffic and I can attract even more traffic with some photography related stuff.
I see. You are right about it. Blog maintenance consumes lots of time and requires lots of effort as well. Nice decision =).
I love the picture. It has such a perfect seasonal feel to it. I know that by the time the new year comes, we will all be tired of winter. I am really over the cold, as it is.
Nice picture. I remember our old house with the big tree by the porch. Lots of memories we had there. Now we’re in the city, we just go to the park. Thanks for the share.
Hi,
This is nice photograph to remind Christmas, really snowy tree is look like original tree not photograph. Very nice from you.
I admire all you photographers out there. I think it is a lovely photo. Lovely and cool. Great to look at while I swelter in 37C (100F) heat here in Perth! Our skies are this blue on a really hot day
Thanks for sharing with us. I enjoyed it. Hope you all get the White Christmas you are hoping for. We are hoping it won’t be too warm.

Great shot Klaus, it will make a nice Christmas postcard..
Trees are tough. I’ve shot hundreds of them and very rarely do they convey the look and feel that they really do in person. Maybe just the process of framing them outside of their non-framed environment kills it, who knows.
You nailed the exposure comp. I would like to see it at a small aperture as well, which would give it some more detail.
really nice, the tree and the background i also like the silhouette of the background tress, like they’re shadows of the great one.
