Samsung introduced the word ‘phablet’ to the tech market with its Note series. For years the Korean company did not face any worthy competition. But with the recent launch of LG G Pro 2, things might have changed. Let’s compare the two phablets and see which one is worth your money.
Both the devices have 1080p resolution to meet high-end standards of the tech world. The screen type and diagonal of both the devices however differ. Note 3 come with a Super AMOLED screen with 386 pixels per inch. Pro 2 on the other hand pack an IPS Plus LCD panel, measuring 5.9 inches and offering 373 ppi. Both the devices have Corning Gorilla Glass over their screens.
Body and Design
The extra 0.2 inches make the LG Pro 2 slightly taller and wider than Note 3. LG Pro 2 measures 157.9 x 81.9 mm, whereas the Note 3′s dimensions are 151.2 x 79.2 mm. The extra 0.2 inch also makes LG Pro 2 4 grams heavier than the Note 3 which weighs around 168 grams.
It’s the design that defines the major difference between both the devices. Samsung gives the Note 3 a more squarish look. The body has been made out of plastic but the rear panel has a faux leather finish. Samsung’s trademark, the home button further differentiates the device from LG Pro 2.
LG Pro 2 has rounded edges and a smoother finish. In the place of Note 3’s home button, the LG Pro 2 boasts the company’s logo. The plastic rear also features the physical home and volume buttons just like the ones in LG G2 that came before the phablet.
Camera and Multimedia Features
Both the devoice come with a 13MP snapper on the rear and a 2 MP secondary camera. The LG Pro 2 actually has a 2.1MP front-facing camera but there is no major difference in the picture quality. The LG Pro 2’s camera comes packed with optical image stabilization and [email protected] / [email protected] / [email protected] video recording capabilities. Samsung tried to implement the OIS technology in its handsets last year but Note 3 does not offer this. It also has a low functionality as compared to LG Pro 2 with [email protected] / [email protected] video recording.
LG Pro 2 is a clear winner as far as sound capabilities are concerned. Its audio capabilities have wowed critics and costumers alike with its 11 watts speaker that is said to deliver 30% better results than its predecessor.
Both the devices feature Android KitKat but because of the nature of these smartphones users won’t be able to swipe their fingers on all those vanilla Android features.

1 thought on “LG G Pro 2 vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 3”
Though the LG Pro 2 and Galaxy Note 3 are an improvement over their predecessors I am still greatly underwhelmed by their battery life. I really would like to be able to work on devices like this for longer sessions at a time, and not having them need an electricity plug every few hours.
