When you own an Apple product such as an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac or others, rest assure that it comes with a good-performing battery.
In the past, however, Apple has been accused of intentionally slowing down iPhone models with aging batteries, and to settle the BatteryGate case, the giant tech company recently paid $113 million.
Apple has introduced battery and performance management features to its users, in addition to sharing tips and recommendations to maintain good battery health. Some of the general tips that Apple recommends include: updating to the latest software, avoiding extreme ambient temperatures, removing certain cases during charging, and storing devices long term in a half-charged state.
On its website, Apple created a page detailing useful tips on how to maximize the battery life and lifespan of your iPhone. Of course, tips on other devices like the iPad, Apple Watch, iPod touch, MacBook are also included.
Below are tips for maximizing battery performance and lifespan for your iPhone. These also apply to iPad and iPod touch devices.
Update to the Latest Software
Always make sure your device has the latest version of iOS.
- If you are using iOS 5 or later, find out if you need an update. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- If an update is available, plug your device into a power source and update wirelessly or plug it into your computer and update with the latest version of iTunes.
Optimize settings
You can also prolong your battery life by using a Wi-Fi connection wherever possible and by adjusting your screen brightness. Either turn on auto brightness or dim your iPhone’s screen brightness.
Enable Low Power Mode
When it starts to get low, iPhone users can enable low power mode. If the battery drops to 20%, the user will get a notification and Low Power Mode can be activated with just one tap.
View Battery Usage Info
Users can view their iPhone battery usage info by going to Settings > Battery. To conserve battery, iPhone users can turn off settings such as location services and Background App Refresh.
I like to use my phone almost always on low power mode, and close all the apps that i’m not using. It helps a lot
