If you have already watched the Squid Game series by Netflix, then you would not be surprised to know that it was the No. 1 most-tweeted about television show of the year.
Apple TV+ and Disney+ had some wins too.
According to a report from Deadline based on Twitter stats, “Twitter, which swung into year-end spirit today with 2021 rankings, showed the Netflix viral hit was, unsurprisingly, the most tweeted-about show on streaming in the U.S. this year. WandaVision and Loki (Disney+) were nos. two and three, followed by iCarly on Paramount+ and Ted Lasso on Apple TV+.”
Meanwhile, on the movie category, the most-tweeted about title was Black Panther, the 2018 Marvel film starring the late Chadwick Boseman. Take note that this included tweets about “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, the sequel currently scheduled for a November 11, 2022 release. Warner Bros. claimed the next three spots with Godzilla vs Kong, Zack Snyder’s Justice League and 2021’s The Suicide Squad, followed by Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Twitter unveiled the rankings as part of its year-in-review #OnlyOnTwitter report, based on internal company data from January 1 to November 15, 2021.
