Thanks to this nifty gadget by Apple, a man from Australia was able to recover his things that were stolen from his car.
Graham Tait, a resident of Sydney, discovered he was robbed while he was on a holiday vacation in South Australia this week, when $10,000 worth of items was stolen from his car which was parked at a hotel.
He said, “My car was broken into whilst we were traveling in the Flinders Ranges last night and they took a laptop bag and camera – both of which had AirTags fitted.”
Fortunately, Tait remembered he had attached an Apple AirTag on some of the items that were stolen – his laptop bag and camera (pictured below).
He told 9News, “I used the Find My app and tracked the missing items down to a room in the hotel we are staying in.”
When he opened up the Apple “Find My” app, the location of the missing items was revealed, all thanks to either the iPhones of people who passed by the room, or the iPhone of the alleged thief themselves.
All of his stolen stuff – a camera, laptop, wallet, GoPro and more – were all retrieved.
The police were called and are now dealing with the alleged offender.
The Apple AirTag has a history of helping people find their missing stuff, whether it was stolen or it was simply just misplaced somewhere.
