Digital projectors in cinemas are not that uncommon anymore. In such cinemas you’ll find a digital projector and a movie server where the movies are stored in a special version of MPEG2, such movies usually take up between 40 and 70 GB in disk space.
But digital movies is not the only thing the new projectors can do.
Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) invites you to see Uncharted 2 on October 5th in four cinemas in the US: San Francisco and Thousand Oaks, California, Rosemont, Illinois and Bellevue, Washington. It’s just like in your own home on your own PS3, except it’s on a much larger screen.
While this event is only considered to be promotional for the sake of Uncharted 2, Sony does plan on throwing similar events in the future if this one turns out to receive positive feedback.
I just don’t know how they decide among the hundreds of gamers in the cinema, who gets to actually play the game…?
No matter what, I’m looking very much forward to Uncharted 2. The first version (Drake’s Fortune) was one of the best PlayStation 3 games I’ve ever played, right up there alongside with Call Of Duty 4 – Modern Warfare.
I loved the first Uncharted and played it for weeks straight, I can’t wait until the new one comes out.
