Friday Flick Find: My Own Video – Shooting Cans In Slowmotion

Today’s Friday Flick Find video is a video I made myself, yep that’s right, I made it myself so it’s brand new on YouTube and fresh out of the stove (though it’s a while back since I actually recorded it).

While this video also focuses around guns (BB guns and an air rifle), it’s really the slow motion part I was focusing on and also the reason for making this video. I’m not into guns at all, but I don’t mind doing some target shooting every now and then. Recording things in slow motion can be cool, so I just put my Sony HDR-SR11E video camera (now discontinued and replaced by the better Sony HDR-XR500Vread Christie’s XR500V review in the comments below) on a tripod and got ready to hit the record button after the shot was fired (it can record before or after you click the record button).

Music in the video is M83 with Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun (US iTunes link).

I recommend watching the video in HD.
– and I’d appreciate it if you rate the video 5 stars ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Quite the marksman aren’t we? ๐Ÿ˜‰ How many times did you miss, if at all? I love the music you picked, and Yoda was a nice addition too. I suppose it was the ‘force’ that made you such a great shot ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. That is a cool video – very nice! ๐Ÿ™‚ And the shooting really looked like fun!

I bought a Sony HDR-XR500V a few days ago because I go to a lot of events with low lighting and got tired of having blurry faces in the videos my lower-end HandyCam would produce. This new one even has built-in smile detection and takes a photo when it detects a smile. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Yeah thats’ one of the upgrades in the XR500V compared to the SR11E that I have, built-in smile detection as well as GPS tracker. I hope you like your new cam!

      • I’m so excited to hear that you like it – I haven’t slept for weeks fearing that you spend $1k+ based on my recommendation if it turned out that you didn’t like the cam after all ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I’m a pretty good shot too, always qualified expert with the m-16 in the Army. It’s your video shooting and editing skills that impresses me. Seriously, great job. You could run a video editing service.

I rated five stars, subscribed via YouTube feed and added you as a friend. Now I’ll subscribe to your blog feed and call it a day ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hehe, thanks for all the stuff you did / subscribed ๐Ÿ™‚ I have reciprocated (but were already subcribed to your blog RSS feed, so no news there).

I bet you could make a really cool similar video, only way cooler, if you happen to be able to borrow one of those M-16’s for a few hours of “slowmotion” shooting ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. For some people, shooting may seem like a very dangerous or scary thing to do. However, being trained properly is a great way to build confidence and courage.
