We knew it was just a matter of time before somebody, usually iSuppli, would take apart the iPhone 4 and do some calculations on what the different parts cost.
A 16GB iPhone 4 costs $187.51 according to iSuppli, which is more than Droid’s $179.11 and iPhone 3GS’s $178.96.
iPhone 4’s retina display, likely from LG, is the most expensive part of the iPhone, coming in at $28.50. The A4 processor which is from Samsung, and also found in the iPad, is $10.75 and the new gyroscope chip is estimated to cost $2.60.
Obviously the calculations doesn’t take into consideration how much money Apple might have spend into research & development.
