Nikon Wins Two “red dot Design Awards” 2010

I follow Nikon a bit from the sideline, since I’m a Nikon  shooter myself. Not a pro or anything, I’ve only had my Nikon DSLR since November 2009 but I already invested quite a bit of money into this photography hobby and I’m really enjoying it so far.

That’s why, when I saw that Nikon won two “reddot design awards” in 2010, I wanted to share the news with you guys.

It’s the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj and the Nikon D5000 (my camera!) that won the awards in the “product design” category. S1000pj is a pocket camera, also known as point & shoot, that comes with a built-in projector. Pretty cool. Nikon D5000 is an entry-level DSLR camera.

The “red dot award: product design” is a world-class award presented to products released over the past two years that exhibit superiority of design in terms of a total of nine aspects, including innovation, functionality, ergonomics, ecology and durability. A total of 4,252 products from 57 nations took part in the “red dot award: product design 2010” competition, for which the two Nikon products were selected. Winners will be on display from July 6 to August 1, 2010 in the exhibition “Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2010” at the red dot design museum on the premises of the Zeche Zollverein World Cultural Heritage Site in Essen Germany.

    • Award or not, I’m still happy with my Nikon D5000 🙂 I’m not a good photographer either, so we just have to keep practicing to get better…

  2. Photography is my true passion. Although I mainly shoot with a Canon, there’s no denying that Nikon’s are absolutely great cameras!

    • Canon, Nikon… same thing, more or less 😀 I don’t buy into that “Canon vs Nikon”-battle as I believe people will pick what they feel is best for them and I’m sure both systems are capable of making great images.

Thanks for the info about you and photography, I see that you have a photo category on your blog, so I better check that out!

    • Since it’s in 2011, you have lots of time 🙂 It would probably be a good idea to get a camera some time before so you have time to get used to it and learn most of its features.

  6. I use the Nikon D90 and think they deserve an Award for that one as well, not only are they awesome with packaging so many cool features into the camera, but to do it with such ease and ease of use requires real skill.
