Apple’s new “spaceship” HQ in Cupertino

The development proposal for Apple’s new HQ, Apple Campus 2, has now been published on Cupertino’s website.

The project has not yet been approved by the city of Cupertino, but Apple is expecting to create new workspaces with their new Apple Campus 2, so Cupertino will probably not have any problems in approving the plans.

Apple Campus 2 will be built on land that used to belong to HP. It will be a 4 story building with a total of 260,129 square meters.

It will house 13,000 employees and the auditorium will fit 1,000 seats. It also comes with its own fitness gym, parking spaces and some kind of power plant which will be environmental friendly.

Several public roads will have to be changed and 3,400 trees must go – but Apple will plant 6,000 new trees on the area. The inner circle of the spaceship will become a park, though it won’t be public – so Apple employees only!

The “spaceship” was designed by Norman Foster and it is expected to be finished mid-2015.

Looks like something that came out of a scifi movie or tv show. It reminds me of the Graystone building from the BSG spinoff Caprica.

Wowwwwwww that looks really awesome! 😀

lol about the trees.. I’m sure they’ve anticipated the protests that they are going to get by cutting down those trees

I thought it is going to be some Apple share 🙂

Anyway, I personally think this building is cool. But how long would it take to finish one lap? ^_^

Take that, Googleplex…

You know your organization has money when it can afford to erect a building reminiscent of the Pentagon – but with a different shape.

WoW! I think Apple Campus 2 will be very great place to visit. I can’t wait to hear what’s next on their project. 🙂

I’m not sure how I feel about this building yet, but I think it could grow on me after awhile. It’s certainly unique, and you have to appreciate that I guess.

Most of the big tech companies now create their own buildings with their own personality. It’s a part of their “branding” I think.

I like the proposal. Building for branding nice idea from Apple.

This is something really interesting. The design of the Hub is really amazing and not only that it will also provide job opportunities to so many people as well. I know this is going to be a major hit project for year 2015. All the very best.

I agree with Barry…Its all about branding, but architecture shows how creative they are… It is really appreciable design. IMO, other companies should be inspired after watching this. I have seen many companies HQ and most of them looks like Hospitals 🙂

It is an imposing structure, it is interesting to know how it will integrate with the environment
I am curious if Apple will keep his promise about the trees to be planted

What kind of Power plant will it accommodate in the center? Knowing apple this complex will surely stun the world just like their products.

This proposal by apple looks like an spaceship.
Apple is simply getting an high income.Getting the specific landmark for the company with building like this will be surely an achievement fr the apple.

The headquarter looks great. I like the idea that they included park within their headquarters. It would definitely help the employees to be stress free and unwind for a while after a long hours work.
