Apple just announced in a press release that it will be unveiling iOS 5, Mac OS X Lion and iCloud at the next WWDC to begin on Monday June 6th.

Steve Jobs himself will, as usual, take the stage at the opening keynote address to make the announcements.

Usually Apple doesn’t release such information before a keynote event like this, but maybe it’s because of multiple iPhone 5 rumors recently that Apple has decided to come clean beforehand as to avoid “major disappoints” after the actual keynote, where their AAPL stock price usually falls a bit.

As for iCloud, it is expected to be a storage solution for music, kinda like Amazon Cloud Player and Google Music, but we’ll have to wait till monday to know for sure.

FULL PRESS RELEASE FROM APPLE:

CUPERTINO, California—May 31, 2011—Apple® CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS® X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®; and iCloud®, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

Personally, iCloud seems very interesting to me. We will have to wait and see.

I think getting music from the cloud would be cool. I barely use my ipod app anymore and mostly use apps like Pandora and last.fm.

My favourite update in iOS 5 which was announced last night is the hardware camera button ( + sign). I’ve been wanting one of these for years!

The keynote address has been delivered. The Apple iOS 5 has 200+ features like enhanced Notifications, Reminders, Versioning etc. It’d be great to see the OS featuring on iPad 2 and iPhone. The price of “Lion” has also come down to $29.99 which makes us hope that iOS5 enabled devices also will be becoming cheaper.

A lot of the things allegedly coming in iOS 5 are ABOUT TIME!

Looking forward to that one.

Here’s a novel concept: blink the LED on the phone when there’s a notification!

WOW.

LED notifications are included in iOS 5… I suppose some will like it but I always have my phone on its back, on the table, so I don’t think I’ll ever see it. But I might starting turning it around if Im somewhere I need to be able to visually see if there are notifications I might have missed.

That’s true but for me it’s more about when the phone is sitting in a cupholder in the car, for example. Too noisy to hear the pathetic iOS alert, but you can just glance down and see if it’s blinking.

Situations like those.

Also, when you have it silenced.

My old Blackberry Curve has a big fat red blinking LED on the front top and that’s basically all I ever used to see if anything was needing attention.

I just hope Lion doesn’t gimp OS X in terms of turning it into a phone OS for desktop computers.
