Which Antivirus is Best for Windows 10?

Introduction

  • Are you using Windows 10 and want to know about the best-paid antivirus solution for the same in 2020?
  • Do you know how you can protect your Windows 10 from attacks like malware, ransomware, phishing, spams, spyware and other threats?
  • Have you used antivirus solutions – free or a paid nature – and have not been satisfied by the coverage they offer for Windows 10?

Do you know why Windows is one of the most preferred options and operating systems to hack? It is only because of the sheer number of devices (laptops and desktops), which are in circulation and usage in the world.

With the advanced nature of tactics that hackers are using to penetrate systems and steal data and confidential information, the need to have a reliable antivirus at your system’s disposal is becoming a much-needed reality.

In this article, we will help audiences select the best third party paid antivirus solution for their Windows 10. We will also briefly touch upon Microsoft’s Defender and see whether it is enough to protect your system in its entirety.

Microsoft’s Defender: What you need to know

I am sure many of you don’t even know that versions like Windows 7 and XP did not come with Windows Defender! Windows 10, however, comes with the rechristened ‘Microsoft defender Antivirus.’

Even though the latest Defender is a reliable antivirus, it is not a specialized protection suite, which can give you complete protection from all kinds of threats and vulnerabilities.

That’s why security solutions like the Bitdefender and Kaspersky Total Protection are the most sought-after products in the industry. Microsoft Defender works well, as it can synchronize its activities with the Windows 10 OS.

However, because of the sheer number of machines carrying the same, it sometimes becomes difficult for Microsoft to the latest and most sophisticated threats. Defender utilizes the Windows Settings Menu to gain access to the system. It is from here that the Defender can monitor virus problems, firewalls, device security, and run other security features.

List of 5 Best Antivirus Solutions for Windows 10 in 2020

If you are looking to purchase an antivirus for Windows 10, you need one that keeps your PC safe from all existing and future threats. You would also need your antivirus to be easy to use and non-interfering in nature.

1. Bitdefender Total Security 2020

For the last few years, Bitdefender has always been in the top three antivirus solutions for Windows 10. It is not surprising, given that the range comprises a full spectrum, ranging from its free offering to the top of the line Bitdefender Total Security.

Bitdefender Total Security offers complete antivirus protection for Windows 10 devices. Bitdefender Total Security provides it all by having advanced and state-of-the-art detection tools for providing innovative security functions like the microphone and webcam monitoring.

What makes it stand apart from all its competitors is the fantastic value proposition. You can add ten devices for approx. USD 49.99However, the fact that Bitdefender Total Security coupons are available throughout the year is something that gives it an extra edge. Bitdefender is also AV-Comparatives’ Product of the Year’ for 2020!

2. Kaspersky Total Security 2020

Kaspersky is one antivirus brand, which has always kept pushing the development curve. With its top offering, Total Security, Kaspersky has finally managed to break into the league of the big boys. Kaspersky has a few aces up its sleeve with its highly rated unlimited password manager, great internet parental controls, and a more than handy backup software.

Even though Kaspersky has set a great example in the industry to filter in a two-factor authentication, it still has some baggage, which it needs to shed. The most important ones being that it slows down device performance more than any of its competitors do.

In addition, there is no plan, which covers unlimited access to its secure line VPN. Even though Kaspersky has come a long way with its Total Security, there are still miles to go.

3. McAfee Total Protection

If you have been in the antivirus software industry for a long time, you will know that if there is one company who takes testing seriously it has to be McAfee. With their highest priced antivirus- Total Protection, McAfee, has been able to compress a rich feature set at a decent price point.

You get the basics- antivirus protection, malware detection, parental controls, password managers, manual scans and so on. However, the product never feels to be premium or strong enough when you compare it with its top rivals like Bitdefender or Windows Defender.

Yes, you can add up to 10 devices for a fair amount of money, but the antivirus fails to impress for its high renewal pricing plans. Experts have also expressed their reservations about McAfee’s firewalls, commenting it is not as strict as its competitors offer.

4. Norton 360 with Lifelock Select

When it comes to pioneering innovation, trust Norton to come up with something new every time. As an antivirus offering, Norton has always been right up there with the best. From an excellent antivirus package to offering a firewall, VPN, parental controls and password manager, Norton 360 offers it all.

However, the USP is the 2019 partnership with Lifelock. Taking the issue of Identity Fraud to the next level, Norton has started offering Lifelock with a number of its antivirus plans. For customers who are new to this, you can think of Lifelock as a form of insuarance, with plans reimbursing your from $25000 to $1 Million!

What Norton seems to have lost somewhere in the process is making the process very confusing. The different sets of plans (adding in the Lifelock feature), makes the entire endeavour tedious and distracts consumers in a major way.

5. Trend Micro Maximum Security

A relative new entrant to the entrenched and dominated antivirus industry, Trend Micro has been able to carve a specialised niche for itself. This is because, the premium antivirus solution from the brand, Maximum Security has been able to punch well above its weight in various tests and reviews.

Trend Micro has been quite emphatic in stating the use of AI and ML learning to anticipate threats. It has also been very vocal about the fact it is one of the best antivirus solutions, when it comes to protecting financial details while shopping from ecommerce websites.

In addition to this, Trend Micro allows you to add up to 10 devices for a yearlong offer price of just under $40. This might look a steal, but I would consumers to read their complete review before signing on.

The Final Word

We looked at a number of antivirus solutions for Windows 10 in details. We felt that there are some companies, which have taken their foot off the gas in the last couple of years. Others like Avast have been embroiled in controversies, which are sure to drain their image.

In the ultimate analysis, we felt that Bitdefender Total Security and Kaspersky Total Security are leading options, which consumers should look at for their Windows 10 PC.

  1. Currently I only use Windows Defender, but I have used Kaspersky and it has always been a great anti-virus solution. An antivirus not listed in the post that I have also used is ESET NOD32.

  3. May I know why Avast! didn’t make it to top 5? I’ve been using their anti-virus since 2010 and I am pretty contented with them, though I haven’t tried other than AVG and Eset. Would love to hear your thoughts
