The new Apple iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterey software updates introduced this week  allows users to record the last 15 seconds of their gameplay at any time just by long-pressing a designated button on a supported third-party game controller connected to their device.

When a designated button is long pressed on the controllers, Apple shall automatically capture 15-second snippets of gameplay and save it to the player’s camera roll, so they can share it with friends on social media such as YouTube.

Instead of remembering to start and stop a screen recording whilst playing a game, this new feature lets users of iPhone, iPad and Mac to capture highlight videos worth 15 seconds and have the content instantly saved to their devices. Some examples of gaming events that are worth recording are: if a player stumbles upon a rare treasure chest, perfectly executes an amazing combo move, or when they win a boss battle.

Record highlight videos by just long pressing the Share (or Create) button on a supported game controller, such as the PS5 DualSense controller or the Xbox Series X/S controller.

This is just one of the many small but totally useful new features that Apple has added in their latest software updates.

iOS 15 comes with a flurry of new features including improved Notes and Maps app, a redesigned Safari, SharePlay, Focus, FaceTime improvements with Spatial Audio support and more.

iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterey are now available in beta mode for developers and will be made available to the public later this autumn.
