I Luv’ CommentLuv – do you have it on your WordPress blog yet?

by Klaus on August 23, 2009

commentluv-wpAre you a blogger?

No! Then go become a blogger and return to this post once you get a blog going. Your future readers and blog commentators will love you for it!

Yes! Great, are you using WordPress as your blogging platform then?

No! Hmm, okay, I hope you’re happy with your current platform. If not, I strongly suggest you take a look at WordPress which is a free blogging platform that runs on pretty much any Linux (PHP) based webhosting server which comes as little as just a few dollars a month, or free if you decide to go with a WordPress.com blog (not recommended though, but you can start out with one and move to your own later on).

Yes, I’m a blogger and I use WordPress, tell me what’s up with this CommentLuv already!!!!

Sure, sure, just take it easy, m’kay? CommentLuv is only for happy people (it’s not called CommentHate, is it? No!). To get a better understanding of what the CommentLuv WordPress plugin is, check out what the developer is saying:

This plugin will visit the site of the comment author while they type their comment and retrieve a selection of their last blog posts, tweets or digg submissions which they can choose one from to include at the bottom of their comment when they click submit.

It has been found to increase comments and the community spirit for the thousands of blogs that have installed it. With a simple install you will immediately start to find new and interesting blog posts, tweets and diggs from your own blog and community.

I totally agree with every single bit of the above. I’m more than satisfied with the amount of comments I’m getting here on TechPatio.com – and in conjunction with TechPatio being a do follow blog, there’s really no reason not leaving a comment, whenever you have something on your mind or something to contribute with – or maybe just a question…

Another thing I love about CommentLuv, it makes me come around to other blogs much more often. Now, I’m usually subscribed to the RSS feeds of my regular commentators here on TechPatio, but I don’t check them multiple times a day. When I receive a new comment on any of my blog posts, I get an e-mail – instantly – with the comment, and that e-mail includes a CommentLuv link to the commentators last blog post. Right there and then I can see the title of the commentators last blog post and I can go read it immediately if I want to. I bet this happens to me at least a few times every day.

Here’s what you’re going to do now (assuming you passed the initial questions and you’re already a blogger on WordPress):

  1. Install CommentLuv on your blog.
  2. Leave a comment below 🙂 and include a link to your blog with CommentLuv (or leave a comment explaining why you don’t have CommentLuv and/or don’t want to either).
  3. Have a nice weekend!

One more thing. Hopefully next week I will be launching a new theme on my blog. It’s the Thesis theme, you might have heard about it? Very popular theme. Stay tuned!

I have been using comment luv and keywordluv on my blog for several months now and I have definitely noticed an increase in comments as well as traffic. I recommend it as well.

I’m really happy that you list the reasons you like this plugin and how it benefits you because those are the same reasons I wrote it in the first place. Build your community around your own blog and let everyone see the types of posts that are being generated around your cloud of readers.

it works with Thesis too 🙂

Hi Andy! Nice to see the creator of this wonderful plugin stop by and even bother to make a comment 🙂

Yes – CommentLuv sure does work with Thesis, no problems there. I’m already using Thesis myself thanks to the “Theme Test Drive” plugin, but it’s only me who can see it, while I still tweak it etc.

I personally think comment luv is good if your blog is a do follow blog, otherwise it may or may not do any good. It is a good feature to have on ones blog but I dont think it serves any purpose if the blog is not a do follow blog. I could be wrong though, that is just my opinion.

It also has some usefulness on no follow blogs, as it will then give you some more targeted traffic as the traffic you’ll be getting are direct links. On do follow blogs, you also get that, but you also get the better ranking within search engines – hopefully.

I’m lovin’ the Comment Luv plugin. I don’t know how much more traffic I get because of others having the plugin, but I know that I for one am MUCH more likely to click on an interesting headline from another blogger’s comments on a Comment Luv blog than I am on a blogger’s name on a non-Comment Luv blog.

Yeah, me too. I also don’t know how much traffic I’m getting from CommentLuv links, haven’t found a way to track it yet – haven’t looked that much either. But I don’t think Analytics/Wordpress stats are showing up anything in my case, as I run my feed through Feedburner.

Hm, that means feedburner should be tracking the clicks – maybe I should check that out instead.

Thanks for allowing others to share their sites. If you or you visitors have any ideas about how to save money or to avoid scams, take a look at our NON-commercial web site and share your ideas (LeapToCheap.com). There are already quite a few money saving articles already posted out there.

I love CommentLuv plugin because that is one of the main ways I discover new blogs. I tend to stick with the blogs in my Google Reader but this plugin has opened the door to a whole new world of blogs.

The plugin is cool, allows me to check their latest post and I can click on the link if I want to. It’s all depends on their title. Many blogs use it and many benefit from it.

Will want to see what you can come up with when you switch over to Thesis.

I find CommentLuv a clever idea, and a great resource. The clever idea resides in the fact, that you get to see an individuals last blog entry displayed when they leave a comment. The resource in bringing in new visitors to your blog, via the sheer fact that they are interested in that entry = interested in you. 🙂

That’s wonderful news – welcome to my “A” list of RSS feeds that I’m subscribing to (blogs that I like fo follow which also has CommentLuv) 🙂

My “B” list is for blogs that I like to follow but without CommentLuv, so I don’t check them as often as the “A” list.

I’m new to blogging and will certainly try this new plugin I discover.

One thing I need to ask, is what plugin is that on this post wherein it says

” If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! ”

Also hope you can come up with a post for all the plugins you used the same way you have describe it on this post.

thanks

Hi “techstuff” – thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll be returning often 🙂

The plugin you’re asking for is the “What Would Seth Godin Do” (yes, that’s the name of it). I’ll do a blog post about it later, but you can of course just go check it out in the wordpress plugin directory whenever you want to.

Thank you, Sales Training New York.

I’m just a bit sad to see how you could miss the text ” Do not spam, advertise or use keywords as your name.” right above the text box where you comment. And I really don’t think (hope!) that your name is “Sales Training New York” – for that reason, I have removed the link to your website.

You’ve probably heard this a million times: if you want to have more visitors, you have to leave more comments. It’s one thing to leave short and meaningless comments, it’s another thing to leave comments that will intrigue a person.

Why is it so important to place a comment with substance now and then? Well because people like appreciation. You can show your appreciation in so many ways, like re-tweeting there article, by bookmarking it or by simply leaving a nice comment on his or her blog.

CommentLuv is superb in helping you get more interaction but you have to control what is allowed, as unfortunately spammers are also using it.

As one of the earliest users and promoters of the plugin I have seen tremendous increase in blog popularity and as result – earning by simply consistently using what this plugin offers 🙂

Cheers
