My CommentLuv Plugin Is Working Again

Last week I found out that my CommentLuv plugin was broken, today I found the culprit and the problem has been fixed, so you can now use CommentLuv again here on TechPatio.com to promote your latest blog posts and receive some link love 🙂

The problem was some javascript code from Chitika that would insert a few in-text link ads into my posts, which I have been testing out for a few days. It didn’t really give anything, so I removed it and for now I’m going to stick with the Chitika ad that only displays a relevant ad for visitors coming from search engine results.

  1. I had a problem with my CommentLuv plugin some time back, but it wasn’t anything to do with my side it was on the ComLuv website, for some reason my RSS feed address had changed, so I had to correct it, but I’m glad you figured it out and got it working again 😉

    • Hi Asswass. Well in my case it was a tiny bit of code from Chitika that did it, as mentioned above in my posts, so I think that just goes to show that a long of things can go wrong when integrating different plugins and codes. You probably only have trial and error as a mean of figuring out what’s causing CommentLuv not to work on your site.

  5. I’m glad it is working. You and Christie over at MiscBytes have inspired me to take the plunge, and install CommentLuv on my site. I like it so far- it really seems to inspire a community feeling where I’ve seen it in use.

      • One other thing I like about your site is how you have not only a “notify me of new comments” checkbox, but also a “notify me when someone replies directly to my comment box.” Is the latter a WordPress plugin?

        • It’s the plugin called “Comment Reply Notification” and the other one is “Subscribe to comments.” I just modified them a bit, as they both had pretty much the same text, something ilke “Notify me of followup comments to this post”, and the other one had “follow-up”, so they were basically the same, even though they didn’t do the same.

I hate the fact that “subscribe to comments” e-mails you once for every single new comment added after yours. So I wanted something to make sure people would receive an email when somebody *replies to _their_ comment*.

  6. I used CommentLuv plug not long ago. But decided to remove it because the plug stop functioning. I couldn’t find out the problem, so I removed it. In the meantime, I might want to re-install this plug, seeing that not much conversation taking place on my blog.

    • It takes a bit of trial & error to figure out what makes a plugin stop working – but at least you could try to just re-install it and see if it works. It might.
