iPhone 4: Summary of First Official Reviews

The iPhone 4 is out and about in the United States, partly thanks to early delivery of some of the pre-orders. Despite that, some major newspapers have been testing the iPhone 4 for a week already so they could have a review ready for posting today. Here are some of the major reviews found so far:

———–

Engadget
“We’re not going to beat around the bush — in our approximation, the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone on the market right now.

Boing Boing
“Would I buy it? Yes.

CNET
(full review not available until Thursday June 24th)

USA Today
“Cutting through the hype, Apple has given longtime diehards, and first-time iPhone owners, plenty to cheer about.

New York Times
“If what you care about, however, is size and shape, beauty and battery life, polish and pleasure, then the iPhone 4 is calling your name.

The Wall Street Journal
“For everyone else, however, I’d say that Apple has built a beautiful smartphone that works well, adds impressive new features and is still, overall, the best device in its class.

  2. Sticking with my current iPhone for now. I only got it half a year ago and I have a plan with my cell company for another two years, so…

    • Wow, you have a 2.5 year plan? I think it’s amazing how some of the providers can tie their customers for 2 years (or more, apparently). In Denmark, by law, the max length contract you can get is 6 months.

      • I agree and I hate plans. We go without them wherever we can. In the case of phone companies and internet companies here, without a plan costs double the price or even more, so doesn’t make sense.

I wish they would make the plans shorter here too – I hate being a slave to the plan!
