Reset Forgotten Windows 10 / 8 / 7 Password As A Beginner

Cannot login with PIN after updating Windows 10 and forgot password? Have you changed Windows login password but you have no idea what the new password is? Need to regain access to your locked computer or laptop? As a computer beginner, you may take the PC to a repair shop and do a fresh reinstallation of Windows. Actually, you can reset your forgotten Windows password by yourself, if you have an easy-to-use password utility.

PCUnlocker is a simple yet powerful password recovery tool that comes with intuitive graphical interface. It allows you to reset Windows 10, 8 or 7 forgotten password in just a few mouse clicks! No special skills required. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Download and Extract PCUnlocker

PCUnlocker is distributed as .zip format. Firstly, you need to use another PC to download PCUnlocker from this link. After the download completes, right-click on it and select “Extract All” from the Explorer’s context menu. Of course, you can also extract the .zip file using third-party softwares like WinZip, WinRAR or 7-Zip.

Browse to the destination directory where you’ve extracted the download file to, and you can see two files: ReadMe.txt, pcunlocker.iso.

Step 2: Make a Bootable CD

Now, you need to burn the ISO file (pcunlocker.iso) to a blank CD. This can be done using the freeware ISO2Disc, ImgBurn or other CD burning software.

If your computer doesn’t have a CD/DVD burner, you can make a bootable USB drive from the ISO file, by using the freeware ISO2Disc or Rufus.

Step 3: Boot Your PC from CD

Insert the CD into the CD drive of your locked Windows-based computer. Before using the CD to boot off your PC, you have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS to CD as first device. In order to enter into BIOS, you need to press the F2, DEL, F12, ESC or other key while you turn on the system. The key varies from computer to computer. If you don’t know that key, you can consult your computer’s manual.

Step 4: Reset Forgotten Windows Password

When PCUnlocker has loaded, select the local user from the list and click on Reset Password button. It will remove your forgotten Windows password instantly.

Step 5: Log in to Windows

Reboot your computer and remove the CD. You can log in to Windows with blank password now. Done! The method of resetting a forgotten Windows password is probably simpler than you first thought. If you found this article helpful please, share it with your friends and let them know too.
