It is common for people who are in the web hosting business to kick their competitors. But what is the extent that they can go to? There are some companies, which do not indulge in unnecessary activities and believe in promoting a friendly and healthy competition. But there are some so-called exceptions that go out of their way and try so hard that it affects both the competitors’ sales and consumer opinion. The important question here is: What are the ways in which the web hosting company or the hostmaster tricks you?
When faced with this question, the first thing that strikes the mind of a consumer is the advertisements of services and products that are “too good to be true” or gifts like discounts or freebies. But that is not the actual scenario. So what are the different ways in which the hosting companies trick you?
When employees of unethical hosting companies do their activities, they go that extra mile to change the view of the consumers regarding their competitors. But how is that done? How are you, as a consumer, being tricked by the hostmaster?
The first sign of a web hosting company being good is that they know the right SEO tactics and use them to get their name to rank at the top of the search engines. Does that mean an unethical company does not use the right SEO tactics? No, even if they would have used the right SEO tactics that would not have been enough to beat the web hosting companies that are really good in this field.
So what is it that they do to get ahead of these good companies? They simply use the name of these good companies to ruin their reputation. But how are these unethical hostmasters able to do that?
The employees of the unethical companies pose as the employees of the best companies and post questions all over the web like “My server crashed. What is wrong with it?” or “My clients complain that I have a slow server. Can you help”?
The name of the company will be identified by the search bots on the websites with such questions and theses websites will be included as a part of the search results of the web hosting companies. So is this the answer to the question of how the consumers are being tricked by the hostmaster? This is just one of the many ways.
Trends have changed and consumers have become smarter. They research the profile of a company on the web before availing of their products and services. For hosting their website, a consumer would want to know the reputation of a hosting company before trying to avail of their services. As soon as the consumer looks for the company name in the search engine, the negative questions related to the good company will also come in the list and that will create a doubt in the mind of the consumer. Whereas when the name of the unethical web hosting company is searched for in the search engine, then generally no negative comments or questions appear.
This makes the consumer change their mind as they start having doubts about the authenticity of the service provided by ethical companies. And the unethical hostmaster is successfully able to trick the consumer into availing of their services.
