A Darker Dark Mode is Coming to Google

Google LLC is a global technology company based in the United States of America specializing in Internet-related services and products, including a search engine, online advertising technologies, cloud computing, software, and hardware. The headquarters of Google LLC is located in Mountain View, California. Alphabet Inc., along with Amazon, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft, is the parent company of Google and is based in Mountain View, California. On September 4, 1998, while still in their first year of graduate school at Stanford, Stanford Ph.D. students Larry Page and Sergey Brin co-founded Google. They together own about 14% of the company’s publicly traded shares and control 56% of shareholder voting power via special voting stock. In 2004, the business went public through an initial public offering (IPO).

In 2015, Google was restructured to become a wholly-owned Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company. Alphabet’s primary business is the search engine behemoth Google, which also functions as a holding company for the corporation’s Internet-related businesses and interests. On October 24, 2015, Sundar Pichai was appointed CEO of Google, succeeding Larry Page, who had been elevated to the CEO of Alphabet at the time. Pichai was promoted to the CEO of Alphabet on December 3, 2019. The Alphabet Workers Union, composed mostly of Google employees, was founded in 2021.

Google’s rapid development since its inception has resulted in the launch of additional products, acquisitions, and partnerships that are separate from its core search engine (Google Search). Along with work and productivity tools like document editing and collaboration (Gmail), scheduling and time management (Google Calendar), cloud storage (Google Drive), instant messaging and video conferencing services (Google Duo, Google Chat, and Google Meet), mapping and navigation (Google Maps, Waze, and Street View), podcast hosting (Google Podcasts), video sharing (YouTube), and blog publishing (Blogger), it also offers a variety of other services (Google Photos). The Android mobile operating system, the Google Chrome web browser, and the Chrome OS (Chromebook Operating System) are just a few of the company’s many products (a lightweight, proprietary operating system based on the free and open-source Chromium OS operating system).

The company has been expanding its hardware offerings; from 2010 to 2015, it collaborated with major electronics manufacturers to produce its Google Nexus devices, and in 2016, the company released several hardware products, including the Google Pixel smartphone line, the Google Home data transfer, and the Google Wifi mesh wireless router. Additionally, Google has explored the prospect of becoming an Internet service provider (Google Fiber and Google Fi). The most commonly visited website on the internet is Google.com. Several other Google-owned websites, such as YouTube and Blogger and several other major websites, feature on the list of the most popular websites. Google is ranked second on Forbes’ list of the world’s most valuable brands and fourth on Interbrand’s. The corporation has been under fire for various reasons, including privacy issues, tax evasion, censorship, search neutrality, antitrust, and the exploitation of its dominating position.

Google Darker Dark Mode

For select customers, the search engine giant is introducing a new dark mode for Google Search on the desktop, according to the company. Compared to the previous dark way, this new one is significantly darker, and it claims to improve battery life while also reducing strain on the eyes. There have been no widespread reports of user complaints. Some customers who noticed that their previous dark mode had been replaced with a black background instead of the normal deep grey background claimed that their themes had been restored to their former dark way after a short period.

9to5Google reporter is a well-known figure. Google believes that many people are starting to notice Google’s new pitch-black dark mode, which is available in the Chrome browser. Previous versions of Google’s dark mode used a gray color that was easier on the eyes. The search engine behemoth has recently changed its color scheme to pitch black (#000000). Additionally, the colors used for links and previously visited sites have been modified to reflect the overall aesthetic of the theme better.

Following the announcement of the debut of the dark mode on Twitter earlier this month, the business has been gradually pushing it out. Additionally, according to 9to5Google, some customers were given the new theme to take it away from them later on. A new dark mode was also being tested by the business, according to a report published in February 2021.

To manually change from light to dark mode, do the following:

  • Use the gear symbol in the top-right corner to access the settings menu.
  • The dark method should be selected.

Users who favor dark settings may consider the shift a positive development. On top of that, smartphones with OLED and AMOLED displays may find that using the dark mode might help them save their battery life longer.
