Yesterday, same day as Apple announced lots of new iStuff, Sony used the IFA fair in Berlin to announce they will launch a new video- and music service in Europe.

At first it will only offer movies but later expand to include music as well. The service is based on their video-service, Qriocity, which already offers movies to consumers in the United States. Besides movies and music, Sony also expects to offer games and ebooks at some point.

Via Qriocity, Sony will deliver a variety of digital entertainment content and services… including video, music, game applications and e-books over time.

The service will run on PlayStation 3 and also become a part of Sony’s Bravia television series, Vaio computers and blu-ray players. The following five European countries will get access at first: France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom.

“Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” will be available later this year.
