Facebook Simplifies Privacy Settings [Video]

A good move by Facebook, I think. They have been through a lot with their privacy settings over recent years, both because they forced you to share your “Pages” with everyone, no way of hiding it to the public, and because the privacy settings were just too advanced and too many.

Now, a few days ago, Facebook started rolling out a new and simpler way to control your privacy settings. By now, most of you should have access to the new settings.

They are basically changing three things:

First, they add a “master control switch” that allows you to set your overall privacy settings, which will also apply to new products that Facebook may launch in the future.

Second, they reduced the amount of information that must be available to others, for you to use Facebook (such as Pages).

Third, how applications and websites access your information has been updated, so now you can completely deny access to your information, if you don’t use any applications.

Basically it sounds like a good move by Facebook and I hope this time they’ll stick to the privacy settings so we don’t have to adjust them again and again.

  4. It’s about time this was sorted! Too many people have all their photos showing without realising it to anyone browsing. Put’s an end to digital stalking in some way hopefully.
